The most important thing about the 2020 election is not who wins.

If enough Americans come away from the 2020 election having lost confidence in the election system itself, the American experiment is over.

There is a very real possibility that no matter who wins, the other side is going to call foul and full out rebel. I'm not talking riots. I'm talking bombings, assassinations, raids, ambushes and eventually full on civil war.

All that's needed is for one third of the people to rise up against one third of the people while the last one third does nothing. I will not be a part of the one third who does nothing.

There will not be a civil war because civil wars require competing establishments. All the power centers in the country, including the Pentagon at this point, are on the same side.

So which third will you be in if Trump loses, and what do you plan on doing yourself, exactly?

Most civil wars are quite lopsided. A civil war today would not be as lopsided as was our first one. There are those who will fight for what they believe in even if they don't believe in their hearts that they can win. I suspect that there were quite a few of our revolutionary soldiers who were quite surprised that we won. Now, I will admit that there are many men who will not fight unless they believe that they will win under any circumstances be that war or one on one, but that's not every man, and I'm certainly not one of them.

Sometimes the underdog loses, like in the war between our states, and sometimes the underdog wins, like we did in our revolution.

Are you suggesting the todays 'sides' are more lopsided than were the two sides in our revolution?

If a predicted 50 million people get evicted, with the moratorium running out, on top of saying Trump winning, we might see anarchy, riots, and increasing civil unrest but nothing organized in the way of revolution, insurrection, or civil war.

The point being made in this thread is not about who wins; it's about the American voter's perception of the integrity of the election.

Plans are tactical. There are no circumstances for which to employ tactics. Goals and strategy are altogether different from plans and tactics.

But I can tell you this much, tactically, you should start by taking off that enormous covid mask and that ridiculous hat if you want to attack, defend or just not get noticed.

You said you’re not going to be in the third that does nothing. So which third will you be in, and what will you do?

Could go either way or not at all; but if it does, I won't be in the one third who does nothing.

[If anyone recognizes the 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 thing from that German film maker, I didn't mean to paraphrase him without crediting him. I just can't remember his name>]

If I frame a context, to suit a pretext, I can also hide a subtext. Indeed, I did it in my OP.

You're talking about rebellion. The voting right is generally too old and soft for any talk rebellion. If they lose, they will retire to their safe little white bubbles and stew in their hatred of all the imaginary problems that GOP propaganda has convinced them to be afraid of like they did during the Obama administration.

By far. The American colonies had been effectively self-governing for around a century. We had a ruling class and governing structure distinct from that of Britain. The same was basically true of the South in the Civil War. The Founding Fathers also benefited from an enemy that lacked confidence in the rightness of its own cause (the Confederates didn't have this advantage).

Today by contrast, we have one establishment, and they're all on the same side. Even the Pentagon demurred at the prospect of using force against left-wing mobs. There's simply no organizational structure in this country capable of directing a right-wing rebellion (and the left has no need for armed rebellion).

The difference this time is between the public and private. One side wants to maximize, if not eliminate, the public and minimize the private. The other side only wants a public to the extent that is maximizes the private.

The problem that i have with the public, as to the private, and why I want to minimize it, is that the public is vested with the legal use of force.

1. This must be a nightmare we are all living through.

2. Maybe I am in denial, but the idea of a violent upheaval is too horrible to even contemplate.

3. Throughout American history (except in the South during the Civil War), Americans have never experienced the hell of war on American soil. (E.g., just think of the hell that people in Russia went through when Germany invaded or the misery caused by Japan when it attacked weak China.)

4. Where in blazes are the adults in the American political room?

a. Both Democrats and Republicans have to get together and lower the temperature. Both President Trump and Speaker Pelosi have to shut their big mouths. The adults have to stop the crazies in the BLM & ANTIFA. The woke media have to stop the incitement to violence.

I generally agree with your goals. The problem with "limited government" as a political philosophy is that it's a false passive. If the government limits itself, it can decide to become unlimited at any time. If something outside the government is limiting it, that force will eventually decide it wants to be the government.

As soon as the government decided that they can do a thing, regardless of their enumerated powers, and the citizens went along with it, it was pretty much over at that point. Now it is just a matter of choosing who your rulers will be. Neither side considers freedom in any piece of legislation they pass.

Oh that that was true. The English civil war could be described in that way, that rebels had the experienced troops and the government the idiots.

Freedom and liberty can be two very different things. Freedom is always freedom from something. One can be free from anything, but liberty always refers to the same exact thing. Liberty is the individual's authority over and responsibility for them self. Socialism offers freedom from individual liberty. Socialism offers the individual freedom from authority over and responsibility for them self.

I agree with every word you wrote above except the word freedom because everyone wants to be free from something. We want freedom from unjust infringement on liberty, and they want freedom from liberty.

Unfortunately, that's the least likely thing that might happen. Do you have a plan-B if plan-A doesn't work out?
Is President Trump and Speaker Pelosi shutting their big mouths our only hope in you estimation?

Where to start. First of all, losing confidence in the elections is not the biggest threat to our democracy. Bigger threats include the dominance of money, and the massive propaganda and media system funded by that money.

Second of all, IMO, America cannot have a 'civil war' in the modern era. Two reasons are that Americans are too well off and 'pampered' to do such a thing except a small percent, and that the government's population control measures are massive now. There CAN be some level of violence, but not remotely 'a third against a third'. Funny enough though, your scenario describes what happened in the Revolutionary war.

If Trump loses the election and refuses to leave office, the military will not protect him. If you think that, you're going to be extremely disappointed.

Read the latest Senate report. Read the Mueller report.

See all the Trump assholes currently in jail for lying about their interactions with Russians.
