The More Fruit and Vegetables You Eat, the Less Likely You Are to Die

A study of 65,226 men and women indicated the more fruit and vegetables people ate, the less likely they were to die – at any given age.
Risk of death by any cause over the course of the study was reduced by:
14% by eating one to three portions of fruit or veg per day
29% for three to five
36% for five to seven
42% for seven or more (up to around 10 portions a day)
Fresh vegetables had the strongest protective effect, followed by salad and then fruit.

quite the opposite. healthy older people tend not to age as badly and not need the nursing home, or certainly not as soon. You're just another denier, and that's OK, but this is supposed to be a self help forum category.

JOY is very valuable.

Those who get educated thus have some idea of what the good life looks like, some idea of what the life well spent looks like, know this.



EDIT: Show me please the science on "decades".....we see the same crap from anti smoking people, I have seen claims that smoking will shorten life by decades, but the science says that if we stop by 40 years old we will suffer on average almost no shortening of life. Also it appears that about a third of us can smoke all of our lives and suffer little to none, because of good genetics.

Your fanaticism runs into reality, and then you lose.

you know, it's been said people who promote a different, healthier way of eating such as increasing fruits and veggies and reducing huge meat portions, junk food and fried are insufferable. What does that make people who get threatened by others improving themselves to the point that they make posts like your childish one up above?
If you were really secure you'd simply keep on eating tons of meat, dying young and ignore these kinds of threads.

The more fruit and vegetables you eat, the less likely you are to die. Will I live forever if I spend 12 hours every day stuffing myself with fruit and vegetables?

How many times must we go over this? It is not only number of years that matter, the quality of those years matters a ton. It is very common for people to live last years they wish they had not had to go through. They are not willing to kill themselves though, so they are stuck. Clean living might help keep the body together a bit longer, but mostly it adds to the very low quality back end years of life, after many of those U care about die, that we end up kinda wishing we had missed. We also end up wishing that we had been smart enough to work and worry less, while having more fun.

You dont know though do you, which tells me that you suffer from excess youth.

At the end of the day life is too short to suffer bad food and drinks.

My brother and I have been playing soccer since we could kick a ball. All throughout high school and college. We knew how to take care of our bodies. You're not fooling anyone when you say things like this. There is a reason why junk food is eaten so much. It tastes really good. It also effects your brain in ways that more healthy foods don't. Sure large amounts of it are bad, however, stop with the crap like this about vegetables tasting better than simple carbs or meat. It simply isn't true. There are plenty of people that eat meat daily that have enough activity in their life to counter act the problems that can arise. Just because you don't want to eat meat doesn't mean that your opinions are facts. They aren't, and you need to stop pretending they are.
