The Men America Left Behind

None of this makes a ton of sense.

America did not leave anyone behind. The jobs market has changed. People have not adapted to the jobs market. Many of those that have stopped looking for jobs had one resume. They kept looking for one job. With a certain pay expectation. In a certain area. I have an employment readiness specialist that works with people to tailor resumes to jobs and has been consistently successfully in helping people find work. Sometimes you have to shift careers or even relocate. Sometimes you have to work one primary job and several minimum wage jobs. But the fact is...that has been the way it has always been.

I like Trumps rhetoric regarding bringing back manufacturing jobs. I have said that for 8 years now...we MUST rebuild our industrial base. It will require cooperation by industry, labor, and government officials but foreign auto manufacturers have proven it is still viable in the states. We must enforce immigration laws...not because we are evil or because we hate immigrants but because the countries immigration laws are designed to support a balanced economy which provides for our nations citizens and the legal immigrants that come here very year...at least a million of them. Every year. We must curb spending. We must tie unemployment payments with workfare...theres lots of old neighborhoods that need to be either demolished or renovated. We must change our foreign aid contributions to support that is mutually beneficial. We must tighten our belt at the federal government level. We must be smarter about debt. We must get the federal government out of the guaranteed student loan business. We must continue economically and environmentally sound production of fossil fuels. Every dollar spent by the federal government should be spent with an aim to improving the future, not just to digging the grave another foot deeper.

Sure. I think we can agree that paying a steelworker $35 an hour is not going to yield many jobs in steel work. Automation is coming too....if it is not already here en masse. Soon Truckers will be looking for work along with bank tellers, check-out clerks and fast food order takers. Give it ten years, and we may all be looking for work as more and more computers do the jobs we do today manually.

Trump has good rhetoric. I'm not sure he can achieve his goals though. I see him being less successful at pushing though his agenda than even Obama. But, we'll see.

And, in the end, it still makes no sense to pay a doctor $250K with medicare money. Soon, that crap will come to an end too. Automation, perhaps. I trust a computer to diagnose me more than I do some doctor with 1000 other patients and god only knows what else on his mind.

I love the idea of Trump bringing manufacturing jobs back to the US. It's the one promise of his I hope he can actually deliver.

He can't. It's a nice thought, but Obama, Clinton or Trump can do zip about it. That ship has sailed.

There are things that can be done. I just doubt that they will be.

Who would you like to be your medical provider for less than 250k? I can reasonably guarantee that you arent going to find quality people motivated to bust their ass in HS, College, Med school, internships, practice, having to carry more in malpractice insurance than some people pay in rent for a year, LIVING with the specter of lawsuits because someone feels their boil was lanced at an awkward angle, ect. for a nice industrial salary. Most likely you will get a lot of this guy.

And then the blacks and hispanics look at them and say, "Oh, now you're in the same boat as us, huh?"

So you're admitting this is what the left meant by "leveling the playing field". Congratulations, you got what you wanted. Now that the message is clear to all, please take credit for your brilliant idea.

The left was so busy worrying about clean air and water they forgot that people have to work to eat.

"Oh look, the river is clean now."

"Yeah, that's because no one is working anymore."

I don't feel sorry for them overall.

I have been dirt poor, living in the streets, and never really had a proper education. Once I made my mind up, I had a recruiter help me get into the Navy, where I went on to complete 13 college courses and CLEP'd my way into a associates degree.

You can keep blaming everyone else for your sorrows, but at the end of the day, it's up to you to pull yourself up!

I think the relevant point is that 250k$ for a doctor is a. ridiculously dirt cheap and b. has no bearing on that 35$ an hour steelworker.

Except when you try to do the math and figure out how a guy on Disability making $17,000 a year is going to pay for him.

The same way they have for the last 200 years.

Nothing today is like it was 200 years ago. Hell, well it comes to the millions we have on disability, nothing today is like it was 20 years ago.

Point s there has always been a disparity between skilled professionals and those that mucked out the stalls.

Oh, boy, you must be all happy-clappy with yourself for that one, huh? Apparently it never occurred to you that we whites used to be able to count on holding the same job with the same health insurance for thirty years until retirement...and we wouldn't have to work after retirement. But now it's not that way, is it? Because if you'll check, the major reason why we were able to keep the same job and the same health coverage for so long was because UNIONS were there to stick up for us. But thanks to the conservatives' war on the unions, it's a freaking accomplishment just to stay at the same job for ten years, much less thirty! Y'all thought it was evil to protect the rights of the workers, and y'all PROTECTED the tax breaks that corporations were getting for moving their factories overseas...and now we're all paying for it. Wanna see who "leveled the playing field"? Look in the freaking mirror.

My saving grace was that I looked at work as a career. I always approached it more like I would a hobby than a job. After all, work would be something I was going to be doing most of my waking hours. I certainly did not want to hate it.

Growing up in Detroit area during the 70's, we all knew we could get a mindless spot on the line paying $20 an hour, to start. But, I did not want a mindless job. Even back then, I had enough sense to know that working 8 hours a day in a mindless job would not be for me. Lucky was seeing it soon enough to still have a chance to earn an education and learn a few valuable skills to do something interesting.

Nice post. I agree work was never about a "job" but a challenge where I competed against myself, not every part of it was great but it was always fulfilling. In large part I do believe we create our own destiny and have a responsibility that we cannot blame others if unrealized.

That's an "interest group"???

How much "support" should pathetic losers be given?

Are they losers because they are white or because they didn't go to college?

Are they losers because they are white or because they didn't go to college?

Neither.

However, according to the post I quoted, if they require a "special interest group" for any reason at all....well, connect the dots.

I will agree that people tend to not address the problems that men face in society.

But we should be addressing everyone's problems in society, not just women's or men's, as we both face problems.

Are you saying we should end Official Government Racial Preference Pandering, aka Affirmative Action?

Are you saying that Government should not officially classify and document everyone by Race, Gender, and Sexual Orientation and then provide differential treatment based on that classification?

Are you saying that:
The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race. - Justice Roberts

Are you saying that:
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Well, the Obama and Crew created an entirely new Presidential Cabinet Level Department dedicated to keeping the Differential Treatment based on RACE going...

It is clear, after the Obama-Era, the only way we can achieve such goals of race-neutrality, is to remove Democrats and Progressives from positions of power and authority where ever they are found.

Point s there has always been a disparity between skilled professionals and those that mucked out the stalls.

But we are picking and choosing who gets to be trained in those professional SKILLS, largely on RACE, and Poverty-Low-Mid Income Pale-Males do NOT qualify!

Why would any sane Working Class White Male, or his Mother, Sister, Wife, or Daughter, support the Democratic Party? It would be suicide.

Yet Working Class Whites are 53% of the population, and short of massive, Illegal, Mexican and Muslim Invasion, will continue to be a Majority until 2030, and will continue to be the single largest demographic group until after 2100.

They only way the current, blatant, Anti-White-Male discrimination works for the Democrats, is using the Illegals to commit Massive Voter Fraud, and EVERYONE knows it!

Why do you hate Honest Voting Democracy so much?
