But that does not mean unemployed russians go to work in turkey. It just means that travelling from Russia to Turkey is done without a visa... so just passport and a good reason.

even "Glasnost Perestroika" couldnt help them make things better during the decline period and not only russians but many others from other eastern block countries including romania had to legally or illegally immigrate to the other countries.

First off.... UN forces? why the hell should they do anything? Would never pass the security council.

No, any military forces has to come from the EU, but since certain member states refuse to have a military cooperation within the EU, then that aint an option.. /wave the UK.

Now setting up a buffer zone on land is near impossible. That would mean invading Turkey and Libya, and that aint gonna happen. Alternatively those two countries could allow troops in to maintain such a buffer zone, but even that is unrealistic for Turkey and these troops would be sitting ducks for Al Q and other radicals in Libya.

Plus the whole logistics aspect is so massive.. wont be possible on land. The Greek - Turkish border is massive, and is the Libyan coast.

The only solution for Libya is a naval blockade.. that costs a lot of money, is not exactly legal, and would require a military cooperation in the EU. This blockade would have to continue as long as there is so much chaos in Libya.

And then there is Turkey. Turkey needs to be onboard, but since it hurts Greece.. then that aint gonna happen. Turkey does not want these economic refugees so they wants to push them on.. to the EU. Of course they could just prevent them coming into the country in the first place, but that also is a tad hard with the Syrian civil war and its long borders with Syria and Iran.

This is in no way an easy thing to solve. Personally I think we need to tackle the problem at the source.... discourage people for even trying the journey.

I think the german's have been taking a lead in this. it also seems dealing with greece is key here, since something like 2/3-3/4(or more) of all illegal eu immigrants are passing through it

Yes, western countries, not turkey. The vast majority of people who emigrated after communism fell was to the west. Turkey had, and still has, nothing to offer.

Show the report that says that the majority of people who emigrated from the former communist countries was turkey, and i'll retract my statement. If not, then what I said is true.

It is the easier route yes, hence most try going that way. The Libyan route is the harder and more dangerous one.

Look guys, it's simple - every trespassing vessel is asked for authentication and checked. If it is doing something wrong (like carrying illegals) it's asked to turn around. If it refuses, it is SINKED. It's that simple.
Sink a couple of boats and the rest will quickly learn the news and stop attempting. After all, it's much easier to keep a sea border safe with all those radars and stuff, than a land border. It's a shame to let illegal ships in.

It's not openly advocating murder. It's standard rules. Look at every coast guard operation. If the vessel doesn't respect the commands of the coast guard, then they're considered hostile.

And sinking a ship does not mean killing people. You can rescue them and send to a processing center for deportation. You don't even need to sink the ship, just shoot the engines.
