A top Syrian Kurdish official says his fighters are prepared to confront Turkish forces if they enter northeastern Syria.

Shahoz Hasan, co-chair of the largest Kurdish group in Syria the Democratic Union Party, or PYD, says it’s clear from Ankara’s latest statements that Turkey has a plan to enter northeastern Syria.
=============================================
Another fall out from Trump's premature plan for U.S. forces to exit Syria. The Turks can hardly wait to crush the Syrian Kurds & our exit will create the power vacuum that will let them do exactly that. It reminds me of Bush's invasion of Iraq which resulted in the almost total destabilization of the Middle East after the removal of Saddam.

Let's not be ignoring the OIL deposits in the region. All the talk of ISIS and Terrorists and Kurds ignores the driver of the tempest. That'd be control of the OIL monies. Pipeline routes. Water resources. It's never about human rights and assorted bullcrap peddled by the participants and that includes the USA. The Kurds absolute hest hope is to cement an alliance UNDER Assad as Syrian citizens and begin committing to that scenario. The USA is the stumbling block in that scenario.

Another attempt to paint US activity as WAR FOR OIL...

So, how do you stand on an independent Kurdistan?

Lessee' now. The USA is an illegal invader and occupier in Syria. This tempest that the CIA helped stir up in Syria has only killed a few million people. No big deal. Turkey and Erdogan marketed ISIS oil when they had control of the wells. The USA has had control for a while now. Trump likes DEALS and this stolen free OIL must qualify as a DEAL, eh? There is no Kurdistan because it is an impractical dream. The USA likes the idea because it prevents Syria from regaining its' OIL monies from its' patrimony. Iraq doesn't want us there. Turkey doesn't want us there. Syria doesn't want us there. Wait, wait, it's coming to me. The Scumbag Saudi Arabia wants us there. You're known by the company you keep, eh? Only the truly simple minded buy into the dream that the USA is there to help somebody. Keerisst, wake up.

All that prattle to answer a simple question.... Which you didn't actually answer.

I didn't ask if Kurdistan was an impractical state. I asked how you stood on an independent Kurdistan.

I for one believe it is inevitable.

And that it should be. It is far more in line with the ethnic borders in the area rather than the colonial borders set by outside forces.

The Kurds don't have a Nation. They need a LOCAL benefactor. Syria is their only realistic hope. The desire for Colonial borders determined by the USA is a fantasy. You are just doing the Pentagon "Pete and repeat" that has been massaged into your cerebellum. I know you think you are too smart for that, but be prepared for a big disappointment in your self appraissal. We killed millions in Iraq, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, etc. We're not the "good guys."

The Kurds don't have a nation?

STOP THE ****ING PRESSES!l

Are you not capable of addressing what I write?

An independent Kurdistan would be the opposite of Colonial borders.

Do you not understand that?

ETA - Iraqi Kurdistan has been an autonomous region since Saddam days.

An independent Kurdistan has not existed for centuries. Being a land locked region surrounded by stronger ethno/cultural groups which do not want to see their own territory lost to the creation of a Kurdistan, it would be a difficult fight and very hard to survive. Turkey does not want one, Iran does not want one (least to lose from one) Iraq does not want one, and neither does Syria.

Prior to the 1920-1940s Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, etc. did not exist as independent nations but as subsections of the Ottoman Empire.

The Kurdish area should have been considered.

It was, but Turkey took back control of its south east region back in the 1920's

Syria in the 20s was under French control, Iraq under UK control

Syria is in no position to be anyone’s “benefactor” due to be brutality of the Assad regime wrecking the country.

Uhhh...... you do realize the US did not determine the colonial borders, right?

Nonsensical whining about the “Pentagon” this and “CIA” that noted and dismissed.

But hey, glad to see you still support girls getting machine gunned for going to school and dictators gassing their own people.

Assad, with help from Russia and Iran, has saved the Syrian Nations from a USA/CIA/NED/USAID destabilization. WE supported al Qeda/ISIS and armed all of Assad's enemies so they could kill Syrians of all ages and gas Syrians of all ages and destroy villages of all ages and chop some heads of all ages because we are the "good guys." Well, arming these scumbags was not enough, so we invaded and occupied a sovereign Nation. Ain't we special. Now we want to make sure they don't get their OIL fields back to finance the restoration of the Nation we organized the destruction of. We gotta be real special. De-stabilization is our specialty i.e. Iraq, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cuba, Ukraine, Granada, Vietnam, just to mention a few and generate credibility for being so real special. Must make you proud to be so supportive. This all started in Syria when Assad went from being a dictator to being an elected leader and the CIA lost the election. He should have known we only support dictators like MBS, al SISI, You know, basic scumbags. Great allies lots of weapons deals and big money. What could go wrong? That's your history lesson for now and I'll send you a bill.

Why lie about supporting ISIS and AL Qaeda?

What is it about you and lying all the time?

He never had a plan. He was just running his mouth off without his words having any connection to reality.

Weapons picked up on the battlefield =/= Supplying arms.

You fail logic once again.

Ratline: Libya/Cmdr. Stevens via Turkey to ISIS/AlQeda in Syria. CIA operation. Weapons from Libyan armories.

I think backing a Kurdistan would be good leverage against a Turkish administration should they become even more adversarial towards us.

From a strategic position, the US needs Turkey more than Turkey needs the US. The adversarial issue is that the US is ignoring Turkish strategic issues in supporting the Kurds to begin with. That is the prime issue between the US and Turkey (a few smaller ones but the Kurds are the major issue)

Any real EVIDENCE you would care to share?

And "Cmdr. Stevens"? Are you speaking of J. Christopher Stevens? The U.S. Ambassador to Libya?

The U.S. Ambassador to Libya who was killed by an Al Qaeda offshoot was supplying Al Qaeda with arms?

Or is this you ignorantly conflating all rebels as "Al Qaeda/ISIS" when they aren't.

Assad created the situation in the first place through his own colossal brutality. I get you conspiracy nuts are desperate to cling to whatever delusional fantasies you've cooked up---hence the hysterical shrieking about the "CIA" but, since exposing you as an ignorant fool is always fun, here we go.

Number one, there is zero evidence that the US supported ISIS or Al Qaeda. Literally none. In fact we have been actively bombing ISIS and Al Qaeda for years......unlike the Russians, who have repeatedly called out for claiming to fight ISIS while bombing Assad's moderate opposition.

Hate to break it to you bud but if we'd invaded Syria Assad would not still be in power. I get that delusional rambling is kind of your go-to move but again, the facts simply don't back up your nonsense.

Oh, my god. This delusional line of crap again. I guess I understand why this particular fairy tale is so popular; CTers hate having to do legitimate research instead of just looking at some Holocaust denier's website, so it's no surprise the same tired old fantasy keeps popping up. Buddy, we get most of our non-domestic oil from countries like Canada, Nigeria, and Venezuela. If it was really "all about the oil" do you really think we would have let Venezuela continue to slide into anarchy?

Ah yes, the CTer's litany of whining. Let's take a look at the regime's whose demise you mourn, shall we?

1. A brutal dictator who gassed his own people, invaded just about all his neighbors, and actively sponsored international terrorism.
2. A brutal dictator who gassed his own people, is directly responsible for the civil war raging in his own country, and who is basically a Russian puppet at this point.
3. A brutal dictator who armed just about ever terrorist group under the sun, invaded his neighbors and had his "diplomats" carry out multiple attacks in Western Europe.
4. A brutal regime which machine-gunned girls for going to school, committed a laundry list of war crimes, and was so brutal even ****ing Iran was seriously considering taking them out.
5. Uh......the moron running Venezuela is still in power bud.
6. A brutal regime which was so laughably inept that the second the Nicaraguan people had the chance they booted them out of power.
7. A brutal dictator who horrifically mistreated his own people, including the soldiers he sent off to fight in Africa, was so nuts the Russians were downright eager to get their own missiles out of his country, and whose mismanagement has left the country locked decades behind much of the world.
8. Ah yes, another laughable fairy tale meant to excuse Russian aggression. Yawn.
9. You do realize Grenada had been ruled by communists for years.....right? The event that sparked the US invasion was the overthrown and execution of the communist leader of the country by hardliners.
10. Yawn.

Anyone who gets a "history lesson" from you should ask for their money back

Your failure to produce verifiable non partisan links makes your prose obvious for what it is. It'd make nice toilet paper or filler for a trash receptacle. Misinformation, disinformation, dissembling, lies are still the same no matter what color you paint them or describe.
