NEW YORK — More than 1,000 New Yorkers have tested positive for COVID-19 in a single day for the first time since June 5 the state has seen a daily number that high.

The number of positive tests reported daily in the state has been steadily inching up in recent weeks, possibly because more businesses have been reopening and students have been returning to schools and college campuses.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Saturday there were 1,005 positive cases tallied on Friday out of 99,953 tests, for a 1% positive rate.
===================================================
Based on the percentage of its population, New York is still in better shape than some other states.

It looks like the custers in NYC are where some religious schools have opened, but the big cluster in NYS seems to be in western NY. The positive rate has been just a tad over 1% the last two days. (statewide), so there is an increase in the rate of infection. They have increased the number of people being tested, . The infection rate in Erie county overall is a tad above 2%. This is not an unexpected trend, since it's now September, but I hope things can be bought back down.
