The Last Thing States, Cities Need Is a Taxpayer Bailout

of course he does. He can veto every budget that comes to his desk if it is not deficit neutral. But republicans do not and have never cared about deficit spending or HUGE debt. It's why they increase both exponentially and by orders of magnitude more than democrats do.
Don't be naive.

Don't be naive.
Were you not aware that a bill can't become law if the president vetos it, absent a veto proof majority in congress? Nothing what so ever stopped trump from vetoing every budget that came to his desk. He chose to increase spending and explode the deficit each year he was in office.

Huh, according to Wallet Hub, out of the top 10 states that use the most in federal monies/grants, etc....8 are Republican states that went for Trump.

And according to CBS News (2018), none of those in the top 10 pay it back to the federal government.

To be fair, only 8 states give back to the federal government more than they take in, the others take varying degrees. And BTW, of those 8 who give back more than they take, only 2 are Republican states that voted for Trump.

Out of the top 25 most dependent states, 17 are Republicans states that went for Trump.
Yep, red states are generally economic backwaters that depend on blue state subsidies for their standard of living. In other news, Trump is a liar.

No, this is not correct.

Her $3 trillion-plus stimulus plan would have taxpayers write a nearly $1 trillion check to states and cities (on top of $225 billion in federal aid already sent), showering money on what’s already one of the healthiest sectors. (There has already been some 1/4 trillion gifted under the Covid stimulus plan.)

This only gets the democrats votes from groups they already have - teachers and other public unions - but if any stimulus is needed it is in the private sector, not public unions who have been getting regular paychecks whether they are at home or working.
Yep, it's a bailout of failed Democrat cities.

No, this is not correct.
actually it's demonstrably correct. Red states are net takers from the federal government. blue states are net contributors.

I can see the headlines now "Trump shuts down government during global pandemic, babies are dying outside of Planned Parenthood clinics."

Byline reads "Trump blames rahl, radical alt-right on political forum, for informing him to veto Congressional negotiated budget."

Great, so you agree trump is entirely responsible for doubling the deficit and adding trillions to the national debt. Thank you.

laying off government employees would not trigger a depression. In fact If cities also eliminated laws requiring those employees to be present it would improve the economy
Government shutdowns affected a lot of people. So many that mcconnel was forced to give up the game.

And that’s a shame, because once we get to the stage of Argentina our problem will be unsolvable.

you don’t want to wait for the US to become so indebted the dollar is taken out of reserve currency status. I think McConnel made a huge mistake. There has never been actual voter consequences to laying off government employees.

It seems the GOP plan is to deny cities and states needed revenue which will result in cuts such as defunding police departments.

Shame on them for being against law and order.
It's about denying liberal run cities from getting money to "rebuild" the destruction from the lack of leadership and policing during the many riots and looting outings that took place in their cities. You didn't do anything so now you can deal with it not my tax dollars.

Again, not correct. You need to define your terms and post evidence for your false claim.

money is not taken from the budgets of one state and put in another, nor are “blue states” handing over money to “red states” out of their budgets. It’s not happening

The terms where defined, the point was not about "budgets", you are moving the goal post, the point was federal tax dollars paid by states vs federal dollars going to states. Blue states broadly pay out more in taxes than they receive.

There's a federal government in the middle, redistributing blue state money to impoverished red states.

That's not how it works and you don't know it. Reserve currency status has much less to do with indebtedness and more to do with total transactions being conducted with respect to a specific currency... internationally or domestic.

As for laying off government employees as a means of cutting cost, that's just a horrible idea. Government employees spend their wages in their local economies and cities/states/counties obtain funding as a result. You're advocating a race-to-the-bottom in terms of economic result purely on the basis of extreme partisanship.

Money flows from the states to the federal government. Money flows from the federal government back into the states. Of the federal revenue derived from states, it tends to be the case that more money flows into Republican states than they send to Washington. It's called red state welfare... because, well, red states consume resources funded by blue states.

Does this bother you?
