Yes in deed! It was Obamacare, the bailouts and the huge porkulus stimulus Obama and the Democrats shoved through while they had full control of the Hill. It has been the audacity of the Democrats and Obama not to pass a balanced budget unwilling to cut spending for 4 years. It has been countless new regulations against businesses that stifle economic growth and leave millions unemployed seeking government assistance. But probably the worst of all are the countless number of times this administration has violated our constitutional rights through legislation and executive orders. Maybe the left shouldn't be so concerned about the popularity of the Tea Party and start paying attention to the polling on Obama. His approval rating is the lowest it has been in two years.

Likewise the government being off is its default state. Like a light in you home, leave it off untill you need it, use it, then turn it back off.

No the government is not a car or a light blub, nor it is something which is either "on" or "off" right now we say the government is "shutdown" but obviously some parts are still working so its not a total shutdown, a true total shutdown would mean the end to everything the government does which would obviously not be a good thing.

Where do you get these wacko ideas?

No one jammed it down everyone's throat. there have been 41 votesd to remove it. People have elected positions that would have rejected obamacare but they did not vote for that. Mitt Romney ran against it and lost so the people's majority has spoken, and even the supreme court declared it constitutional. You are in the minority and that means if you do not like it suck it up[ and go somewhere else because that is the law of the land now. If you want to fight against it feel free but a loss is a loss and when you lose you have to comply. You do not get your way when you are in the minority. You are not a dictator. America is not run by the radical religious right. You do not decide where we go. We will not be brought down by you.

In fact, *most* of the government is still running. There is no such thing as a "shut down" but look at you all run around like its the end of the world lol

Its true that most of its still running, and that much of that is running off reserve funds not yet spent in the last fiscal year. The government will never be totally "shutdown" where 100% of employees and government run offices and organizations are not functioning, but whether you want to call that a shut down or something else makes no difference to me. It is what it is.

And no its not the end of the world Mr. Hyerpbole, but it is completely uncalled for seeing as how its only the tea party minority of the Republicans holding this process up. Since we know that the majority of the House, via a combination of Dems and some Reps, would pass a funding bill without attempting to repeal/defund Obamacare and that the Senate and President would sign such a bill, it is only the threat of a primary challenge and the desire to save face that's preventing such a bill froming coming up from a bill.

And even though the majority of the government is still working for the time being, that will not continue to be the case unless many of these agencies get additional sources of funding soon. In a bit of completely anecdotal evidence I have a friend at the US patent office who told me they would be furloughed at the end of the month if the shut down went on for that long but they are running now at mostly 100% staffing by using mostly left over FY13 money.

Additionally the VA has credited this shut down with an increase in the length of time it takes for veterans to file appeals and requests for benefits.
