The education culture war is raging. But for most parents, it's background noise

Math textbooks axed for their treatment of race; a viral Twitter account directing ire at LGBTQ teachers; a state law forbidding classroom discussion of sexual identity in younger grades; a board book for babies targeted as "pornographic." Lately it seems there's a new controversy erupting every day over how race, gender or history are tackled in public school classrooms.


But for most parents, these concerns seem to be far from top of mind. That's according to a new national poll by NPR and Ipsos. By wide margins – and regardless of their political affiliation – parents express satisfaction with their children's schools and what is being taught in them.

Ginning up fear and hatred are more effective motivators to vote for most Americans than the reasonable discussion of reality.

It’s very clear that the GOP is going to use the imaginary CRT issue as a wedge issue in order to promote white resentment and engage in race baiting in the 2022 mid terms.

Look for the campaigns to begin ginning up fake “concern” around the second week of August and into September.

The campaign was test driven during the Virginia gubanatorail campaign last year, and it succeeded in bringing out the far right in Loudoun County, which was one of the pivitol districts in that race. An astroturf group got the crazies out to mob School Board meetings there. And they made sure that their media outlets promoted it.

This led to a host of copycats around the country. The audience has been primed.

The national campaign is an astroturf campaign and will be coordinate through groups like Parent’s Defending Education, which popped up last year just in time for the elections and has already filed any number of nuisance actions to get attention.

It is supported by the usual coterie of right wing dark money.

Former tea party operatives run the other major group in this campaign as well.

They will get wall to wall promotion on Fox and the rest by mid September.

The noise will peak in October.

By the third week in November, it will have completely disappeared.
