I live in a small town bordering a large lake. Last weekend,[Memorial Day weekend] campgrounds were filled to capacity, long lines of boats waiting to launch, and traffic worse than I have ever seen it. Now these campers were not just tent campers, but high dollar motor homes and 5th wheel rv's, The boats were not just small fishing vessels, but high dollar bass and ski boats with a few houseboats in the mix.
Maybe the economy is not so bad after all, or heaven forbid this is all being done with plastic.

Maybe your town was booming for 3 days, but that's not true in most places.

Those high dollar campers are probably their homes now. ;)

It could also just be that boating and camping are much less expensive than a trip to Disney.;)
