Leftists have too frequently accused the Christian Right of hating blacks and loving slavery. That is a lie.
Who knows what secular schools and universities are teaching kids nowadays but if they are teaching that Christian conservatives in politics are racist against blacks then they are teaching a lie. The types of Christians who please God are not racist, but they are advocates of things God approves of and opponents of those things that displease God. Here is what Wikipedia said about the Christian Right:
Christian right - Wikipedia
The Christian right is notable for advancing socially conservative positions on issues including abortion, homosexuality, pornography, intelligent design, embryonic stem cell research,[9] school prayer, contraception, euthanasia and sex education.[10]
History
In 1863, representatives from eleven Christian denominations in the United States organized the National Reform Association with the goal of adding a Christian amendment to the U.S. Constitution, in order to establish the country as a Christian state.[13] The National Reform Association is seen as one of the first organizations of the Christian right, through which adherents from several Christian denominations worked together to try to enshrine Christianity in American politics.[13]
The Christian Right can be traced back to 1863, as Wikipedia said, to the foundation of the National Reform Association. Here is some info on that organization:
From Whence We Came: A Background of the National Reform Association -NRA

Their concern, however, was primarily with slavery, and not with the lack of acknowledgment of Jesus Christ in our national law. While some abolitionists and other social reformers came to a position much like that of the Covenanters, they did so in a different direction, and for different reasons than the Covenanters. Covenanters opposed the Constitution primarily because it forgot God and did not acknowledge Christ, and secondarily because it had pro-slavery provisions. They saw slavery as the manifestation of the root problem of godlessness.
