The Challenge of Marxism

See, you do not know the first thing about Antifa.
They do not vote!
Most Antifa are anarchist, and anarchists do not vote, because voting is the democratic way of choosing one's government and anarchists do not believe in government of any kind.

"Whoever they vote for - we are ungovernable"

View attachment 67296923

Obviously there are exceptions to every rule but the very foundation of Antifa is the red and the black, with red representing marxism/communism and the black representing anarchy.

I honestly don't give a rat's ass about your attributions.
You're a dishonest forum member and you're usually only here to post conspiracy theory tripe or red-baiting.

You are I suspect an older Democrat trying to hold onto the center. Good luck.

You are I suspect an older Democrat trying to hold onto the center. Good luck.

I have been a rather ordinary Democrat since about...well, certainly since 18 when I could vote, but I pretty much tossed my more radical views overboard around age sixteen when I started working, first part time and then by seventeen I was graduated and full time.
I would say that I am comfortable with Bernie but not because I agree with everything he stands for but because given how our system works, I knew he'd be lucky to get about 15% of his goals WITH a cooperative Congress.
But more realistically I probably identify more with Sherrod Brown, the "Dignity of Work" guy who lots of folks wanted as a candidate this time around.
He wasn't interested, sadly.

I am also not worried about moving a little further left because we've moved so far to the right in the last thirty years that we would ultimately end up in the center anyway. By the time Congress moves any further left, the wife and I will be so old it won't really matter because by that time it's our kids' turn anyway, and it's up to them what kind of world and what kind of country they want.

I realize that doesn't sound right to you, but that's because based on your posts, you think everyone outside the Trump Right is bordering on marxism anyway.

But the United States will never be a "marxist country".
Again, I do realize that you're convinced we're on the cusp of a marxist takeover right now.

Good evening,

As an Eastern European whose family seen the horrors of communism which is based on the ideas of a self-hating drunk, Karl Marx, I found this article one of the best:

The Challenge of Marxism - Quillette

I advise everyone with an IQ over 100 to read the full text.

I might add that this idea of marxism also brings out the reaction of ultra-nationalism that is as toxic.

I will end with a question:

Is it idealism or pure propaganda that drives the younger generations to consider these ideas ?

Are you worried about the threat of malaria, too?

It is very unfortuAlmost nobody wants to be a marxist or you'd see them everywhere.

Yes, I am sure everyone wakes up one day and wants to be an extremist.

It is a process that starts when masses feel afraid and they gravitate to whichever criminal group promises them safety.

Study the case of Germany before WW2 and after WW1, you think the average German citizen woke up one day and said: I will become an extremist to fight the terrible economics that the country is in ? Of course not, but when that starts impacting your family and your basic needs EVERYONE has it in them to become what you call an extremist. Unfortunately, as a result of this how many millions of people suffered when the masses decided to give their soul to old Adolph ?

And this is the danger to all this situation. You and many others only see Skinheads and Racists everywhere and you fail to see the systematic extremism of left wing ideologies that are creeping in every sector of our life.

From business, universities and personal. This creates a chain reaction and criminal groups are forming on the right.

Now the question is, which criminal group will exploit this better ? The catalysts are everywhere: COVID, Unemployment and news propaganda on all sides.

I sure hope we can all keep our balance if things get worse and will not be tempted to join a side.

You just made the case as to why people decided to go for President Money Launderer, thanks.

Sir, you don't know the first thing about what I see, and that is because you've spent the majority of your 50 posts here on DP telling everyone on the left (from the standpoint of a far right red baiter) what YOU THINK they see.
Furthermore, whenever someone on the left TELLS you what they see and how they see it, you're busy copying and pasting even MORE nonsense and red-baiting drivel.

Capitalism FAILED in the United States in 1929.
The Great Depression ripped the livelihoods, businesses, factories, and life savings right out from under the feet of nearly the entire working class in this country, and the effects were felt around the world.
Membership in communist and socialist groups skyrocketed all through the next decade, reaching a peak in 1936.
I repeat, if EVER there was a chance that America was going to drift toward the extremism of choosing state sanctioned authoritarian communism or even socialism, it would have been then.

The United States was a capitalist country even before Marx wrote Das Kapital, even before terms like "capitalism" even made their way into the lexicon. We have well over three hundred years of experience with capitalism in all its forms.
In fact, thanks to twenty years of steady Democratic Party dominance between 1932 and 1952, and a pragmatic liberal Republican tenure between 1953 and 1959, and the continued tenure of Democratic Party leadership between 1960 and 1968, and steady stewardship of its basic principles by a relatively cooperative bipartisan legislature between 1968 and 1980, The New Deal helped make America's economy the best in the entire recorded history of mankind.

Nothing in the years since 1980 has ever equaled it since, not from the standpoint of quality of life, not from consumer spending power, not from debt to income ratio, not from cost of living and not from consumer confidence.
NOTHING.

And that is because our form of capitalism in those years was a modified and regulated system harnessed to serve as a tool for the middle class back then.

Overall, we have three centuries of experience with capitalism and zero experience with state sanctioned authoritarian socialism, communism and marxism.
There is nothing to inspire a switch to "Brand X" when Brand Z shows the ability to benefit from proper stewardship.
We KNOW HOW to make capitalism serve the working class.

As far as social change, if you fear social change from the left, then the solution is to make the current American brand of conservatism more user friendly to the working class.
Attacking lefty bids for social change has not worked in the entire history of this country and it never will. Pretending that liberal drives for social change is a march to communism failed in the 1950's Red Scare and for the same reasons, it will fail again and again.
It is also LAZY THINKING.

That's not what lefty efforts at social change in America are about.
They are about making this country more FAIR again for the largest number of people.
Are they perfect? Of course not, but no one is.
You must reengage your critical thinking skills instead of furiously copying and pasting blathering tomes from armchair referees.
Insisting that egalitarianism is communism will blow up in your face just as it did for Joseph McCarthy.
People are already sick and tired of being labeled as commies just because they want an America that doesn't have a reputation for being a bunch of assholes.
William Lederer wrote a book in the late Fifties called "The Ugly American".
It is mostly about our foreign policy failures borne of arrogance, but it did not go far enough.
But the message is clear...we are now regarded once again as the "Ugly Americans" by the world.
It does not bode well for our future.

And your current phobia-driven push to the Trump Right is a guarantee of continued future failure.
We are not headed toward communism but rather, it appears we are indeed headed in lockstep toward authoritarian state sanctioned fascism with added theocracy as a bonus if the Trump Train is allowed to continue to its final destination.

You just made the case as to why people decided to go for President Money Launderer, thanks.

Yes, of course, Trump was voted because of this. The union high paying job is not coming anymore and people heard him say: "Bringing jobs back". False statement as outsourcing is a small percengage of the problem.

I read your opinion, I kept saying that marxism is trying to infiltrate through other factors not the economic door. Ideologies are like Windows systems. Different versions as the years go by.

Here is some more copy paste:

Terence Corcoran warns of the progress neo-Marxists have made in overthrowing Capitalism, in indoctrinating a generation of students into the theories of socialism and Marxism and into becoming anti-Capitalism under the guise of anti-racism.
The core elements of the Enlightenment, the 300-year-old philosophical breakthrough founded by the greatest minds in history — from Locke, Rousseau, Hobbes and later by Adam Smith, John Stuart Mill and others — created the ideological foundation for a prosperous world: individualism, capitalism, the scientific method, reason, logic, objectivity, liberty, globalization, secularism, free markets, the pursuit of happiness and well being, free speech, optimism and hope.
The overthrow of these core concepts is not a secret or clandestine campaign but a calculated and highly public effort to destroy the great fundamental principles that have lifted human beings from ignorance and servitude into a three-century explosion of freedom, growth, human progress and achievement.
Under systemic collectivism, essentially all of the Enlightenment ideas are now branded as causes of racism and other forms of oppression that foster inequality and generate human suffering. Enlightenment ideas are held responsible for pollution, economic inequality, global warming, suppression of women, corporate tyrannies, wealth gaps and more.

And you have failed once again because Enlightenment ideas are not being blamed for all those things, greed and narrowmindedness is. Lack of education is.

I read your opinion, I kept saying that marxism is trying to infiltrate through other factors not the economic door.

Sounds like you are taking a position oft-attributed to butt hurt social justice warriors on campus:
You want a "SAFE SPACE" where those awful evil marxists can't be heard.
Clearly you're against doing a better job selling libertarianism and you want protectionism.
How very snowflake of you.
Why can't libertarians just DO BETTER instead?
Penn Jillette is a libertarian but you don't hear him whining about marxists around every corner.

And posting articles by a guy who lost a defamation lawsuit against a scientist is not the route to take either.
Keep posting drivel, I'm sure it's a big hit in your echo chamber.

Why can't libertarians just DO BETTER instead

Nop, marxists can do whatever they want. Fascists can do whatever they want.

As in physics equal action = equal reaction. The masses will cancel each other out through fighting or other factors.

It is very important for someone that has the view of individualism to watch where the sheep stand. And equally important to call on people that are blind to the extremism in their midst.

Now, i have my BIAS in regards to Marxism that is why I started this topic however I can start a topic for fascism in equal matter and discuss its evils.

Not sure what do you mean by better ? You want to tax me more so the good old union days to come back and get fat benefits ? That is not happening, instead of listening to Trump or Bernie Sanders maybe is time to learn something new or think about original ideas. My grandma, for example at 88 years knows how to use a computer. The ability to learn is in all of us. Some give up and they blame the system.
