From Anna Mikulska of the Center for Energy Studies at Rice University...
"Germany has not been very receptive to US and some of the Central and Eastern European countries' critique of the pipeline as a way for Russia to exert additional geopolitical influence in Europe," according to Mikulska. "But in this context, US sanctions on the pipeline have worked quite well," she added.
Germany, she went on, has argued the pipeline is very much a market-driven project and has given little attention to the geopolitical argument. "Of course, Germany has a lot to gain from the pipeline, not the least becoming a major natural gas hub for Europe," she added. "That being said I do not see Germany changing its tune," Mikulska went on. "We have seen a significant decoupling of US and German foreign policy in recent years and I don't think it will change at this point."
The US says its sanctions will prevent Russia from finishing the controversial Baltic gas pipeline, whose endpoint lies in Germany. The resolution of the dispute may carry geopolitical implications.

Germany has become an ally in name only and in ways that have become few and far between.
Europeans and Russia too will understand when the day comes that the U.S. puts sanctions on German companies involved in present and coming projects devised by Putin and his Kremlin Mafia against NATO, EU, Europe and the USA.
Berlin is Putin's Exhibit A of "state capture." Let Russia have the headache of the historical Germans in the present times. Kremlin certainly welcomes 'em with open arms as the two join together to bring on the night.
Or lets take the European view. The US is not anymore a reliable partner, as Merkel said.
What we have seen over the last 4 years and especially the last 2 month and the last week, makes the US the laughing stock of the world.
Pomp said what, who cares, he is known as an Trump idiot.
Armed soldiers patrolling the Capitol, so that there can be a transition of power ?

20 Thousand troops in Washington to inaugurate the next President, really
Zimbabwe
Naturally did Germany decouple itself from the US, as France did, Spain did, Netherlands did, Belgium did, Italy did and so on.
Who would not ?
The US has become a adversary, not a partner and is drifting down into a cold civil war.
The damage the criminal in the White House has done, can not be fixed that easy. The US can not anymore be trusted. That's why the rest of the world has moved away and is building new alliances, left and right, without the US.
Despite Putin and his mafia regime, Russia and Germany have to have a working relation. Cut deals, talk to each other, always have a dialog, trade.
As long as that happens, things are fine.
Russia is stable, Germany is stable, the US is unstable and all it has is 11 aircraft carriers and ?
Besides Germany just finished of its Presidency in the European Council. The most successful in a very long time and you know who is the Head of the EU.
Isolation, give me a break.
The new government in the US has so many domestic problems to deal with, from insurrection, Covid to economy and what so ever. Till they can think about NS 2 it will be finished
