A just-released 911 call reveals the dramatic moment when two Dallas-area teens were able to help save a woman who had allegedly been kidnapped after they saw her mouth the words “help me” from the back of a moving vehicle.Charles Atkins Lewis, 37, was arrested Aug. 22 after allegedly kidnapping the woman, 25, who has not been identified, at gunpoint and forcing her into his car in downtown Dallas. The two teenagers noticed the woman from their car as Lewis allegedly drove her through Kaufman County, according to the recording.
“Yes, I’m on the highway. I’m witnessing a robbery. Not a robbery, a kidnapping,” Aaron Arias, 19, told a 911 dispatcher. “It’s me and another guy. So we’re checking out the girl in the backseat because we’re like, ‘OK, she’s kind of attractive’, and then all of a sudden the guy is turned back, looking at us.
“We looked in the backseat and the blond female in the back was saying, ‘Help me,’ or something, whispering it. So I’m assuming it is a kidnapping.”
He and Jamal Harris, 17, drove behind the car on Highway 175 for miles, staying on the phone with the 911 operator as police raced to find them.
“Oh, my God, I’m hoping the car behind me is a police office. Nope, it’s not,” Arias said.
Within minutes, officers arrived, pulled over the vehicle and discovered the woman, who had allegedly been kidnapped.
Police arrested Lewis and he has been charged him with aggravated kidnapping. He remains in jail on $50,000 bond and it’s unclear whether he has a lawyer.
The alleged victim was examined by paramedics and released.

Happy ending.

See what looking good gets you?

First it get you kidnapped, then it gets two teens to rescue you.

Joking aside...glad to hear that ended well.

Sad that I haven't seen this story on any of the news channels. We need to see more good stories being reported. They most likely saved this girl from being raped and murdered!

Also conspicuously omitted from the news are stories of beatings/shootings in front of multiple people yet not one witness comes forward. Chicago has many such incidents yet how many are ever reported as such?

I've said for a long time now that the media has a responsibility to report the news, but in my mind, good news like this is way more valuable to our younger generations than any story about death or despair. Think about how many youngsters would emulate this kind of value based news information compared to the crap we see on TV, and the net nightly. Kids emulate their peers, for good or bad, so why not infuse them with some good stuff for a change?

Just an idea.. Dreaming I suppose out loud. ;)

So glad you posted this, Maggie. I hadn't heard about this incident before. How wonderful that those two kids had the forethought to realize something was wrong, report it, and keep the car in sight until a rescue was made! Good deeds and good news should be headlined, not buried at the bottom of the last page. Those boys were awesome!

When I saw the title of this article I was thinking it would be about teens beating the crap out of a kidnapper. Didn't happen but nonetheless a very happy ending.

My favorite Good Guy Wins One was a few years ago in Los Angelos when a guy tried to hijack a mini-van carrying a judo team. Was just not the hijacker's day after the judo team tied him up like a pretzel on the pavement....
