Ron Paul is running for president, and this time, it is as a Republican. It is an uphill battle, because the Republican party regards him as an outsider, due to his Libertarian beliefs, but there are good reasons to support him:

1) His knowledge of economic issues is so good that he was appointed as the ranking member of the Subcommittee of Domestic and International Monetary Policy, Trade, and Technology.

2) He believes in personal freedom, responsibility, limited federal government, a strong military without irresponsible adventurism, supporting the troops with deeds, not just words, fiscal responsibility, balanced budgets....... You know, the things Ronald Reagan talked about when he was alive.

3) He did not compromise his Conservative principles when the Neocons took over the Republican party.

4) Dr. Paul might not have the charisma of Reagan, but he has the integrity and honesty, and I will tell you this. Dr. Paul will not tell a lie. I know, I know, Jimmy Carter said this, and look at what he did. However, Dr. Paul has always been a straight shooter, and as president, he will continue to be so.

Whether you are a Conservative, Libertarian, Ronald Reagan Republican, or a Republican who feels shortchanged by those in the party who were willing to compromise their Conservative principles, Dr. Paul is the perfect choice.

Wow! First that one guy from Iowa, Hillary, Obama, and now this?!?! I simply cannot wait to hear who the next candidate will be. Seriously, I was up like all night, I was so excited.
Oh, wait, that's just the caffeine. Yeah, it turns out I don't really care if Ron Paul runs because I don't even know who he is. Sorry about that.

So how about doing a little digging on your own, and learning who Paul is and what he stands for? Oh wait, you are content with Hillary or McCain, right?

Great to see this guy on the ticket. I'm still researching him, but if he can win the primary, I'd probably vote for him if Clark doesn't win the democrat primary. Nice to a republican who isn't a religious nutcase.

No time; I have too many women.

If you are a conservative because you want the government to legislate morality, he isn't for you (and you aren't really conservative IMO)

Otherwise, he is the best candidate the conservative movement has had in our lifetime.

LOL, I'm not a conservative? Uh, wow, that's a first.
And I'm not quite sure what you mean by "legislating morality". Obviously, we do and should legislate morality on many issues. You know, like theft, speeding, drunk driving, prostitution, etc. That's the only way society can survive. Geez, "ARealConservative"... think a little.
Anyway, I'll definitely do some reading up on this guy (mostly because I don't really like Giuliani, Romney, Gingrich, or Brownback) even though I won't be able to vote in '08 (I'll be 17).

Actually I wasn't talking about you specifically, but based on your response I doubt you will care a whole lot for Ron Paul.

He doesn't support laws designed to legislate morality.

Laws regarding theft are ok, as government's role is to protect individuals and their property. Don't expect him to do much of anything with prostitution in Nevada though.

I'll need to do a bit more research on his positions but I like what I've heard so far! I've been favouring the Dems for quite some time but thats only because the Republican party was hijacked by the extremist neo-cons. Give us a proper Republican candidate who stays true to the values of the party and then there is a real choice for Americans. If its more of the same from the Republicans then I'm sticking with the Dems, at least until the Reps. finally realise the people don't want the neo-con agenda ....but I hope change is coming.

Ron Paul would be a great choice for Republican candidate. I think he would be the only honest small government candidate available. Perhaps with him running on the GOP primary, he'll get some exposure to the American people so people can learn about him and his platform. He's got a pretty solid track, and pushes for small, restricted government. It's the sort of thing you used to hear from the GOP until the neo-con take over.

Let's be realistic here. Ron Paul is unelectable.

He is going to be such an easy target for the headline grabbing world cherished by the great unwashed. By the time the big government biased media get finished, 80% of American's will think he is a racist.

He hates our central government and his voting record is quite predictable in that regard. Which of course means that by voting against federal holidays, he really hates Martin Luther King Jr., or Rosa Parks, or some other American hero that he voted against spending federal money to recognize. By voting against social programs, he hates single moms and the elderly. By trying to cut the deficit, he hates soldiers. And on, and on, and on.

Americans are simply too stupid today to see what an asset he would be.

And a threaat too. Just imagine that there are no more pork barrel pigs coming to the trough. Face it - Many who call themselves Conservatives and decry Federal spending will shriek in terror "Not MY pet project". But, after all, who pays for all these earmarks? You and I pay for them through the theft of our hard-earned money by the Federal government. Not that different from being mugged in an alley, is it?
