HIDALGO, Texas (AP) — As President Donald Trump travels to the border in Texas to make the case for his $5.7 billion wall, landowner Eloisa Cavazos says she knows firsthand how the project will play out if the White House gets its way.

The federal government has started surveying land along the border in Texas and announced plans to start construction next month. Rather than surrender their land, some property owners are digging in, vowing to reject buyout offers and preparing to fight the administration in court.

Hard working land owners & ranchers like this guy will make sure this wall goes no where.

Some very bad optics on Trump's way.

Yup. Instead of the press covering protesters blocking Canadian tar sands oil pipelines in Nebraska, they will be covering ranchers on tractors blocking Corps of Engineers survey teams in rural TX.

Trump will become the symbol of epic government overreach.

Couldn't happen to a nicer faux patriot.

Why don't these mainly conservative Texans want to stop the rapist hordes crossing their land on a daily basis with their drugs and their murder?

When illegals who are also criminals shoot at the locals, odds are that the locals would appreciate better security.

Maybe the whiners in Texas are actually carpetbaggers from up north.

Dude, are you saying that Americans who want to stay on their own land but may be forced to sell are whiners?

I wonder how many people they had to interview before they found this woman?

What percentage of Texas landowners do you think are going to be happy selling their property to the government for Trump's wall?

Does it matter where a landowner is from ? It is their land, and they have every right to defend it in the courts. Good luck with Northern Carpet bagger line in court. Dont mess with Texas Trump !!

Dunno about Utah, but do know a few Texans. When criminals of any stripe shoot at the locals, odds are the locals tend to shoot back... :peace

Why don't these mainly conservative Texans want to stop the rapist hordes crossing their land on a daily basis with their drugs and their murder?

Probably because there is no horde of rapists crossing their land... :doh

The vast majority of drugs come in at the REGULATED crossing points.

The number of illegals entering the country has fallen to record lows.

Perhaps these conservative Texans don't care for government overreach from the rabid right on their land. Maybe they don't like 'government' no matter the party in power... :peace

It does to him. Trumpism is based on inflicting suffering on one’s perceived enemies. He hates liberals and northerners, and wants them harmed.

Interesting article.

https://www.azcentral.com/story/new...t-seize-border-wall-eminent-domain/859547001/

While the future path of a full-length border wall is unknown, in Texas, nearly the entire length of its international boundary is privately owned. The border follows the middle of the Rio Grande, meaning land parcels begin a varying distance north of that line. The analysis of property records showed almost 5,000 parcels of land sit within 500 feet of the mid-river border.

Seizing perhaps 5,000 parcels would be an effort exponentially larger effort than seizures to build border fence. After the 2006 Secure Fence Act, federal officials pursued about 300 condemnation cases that were brought against landowners, according to data compiled by the network. Some of those cases remain unresolved a decade later

The GOP elected an East Coast elitist, you know the type they disparaged for years, rather ironic lol

I have kin in Houston, friends in NM. You are correct, locals carry. But crap happens and the locals don't always get a chance to shoot back.

The one skill Trump has that I cannot deny is a remarkable ability to get conservatives to look the other way on every principle they have ever claimed to have. By 2020, the whole GOP will be Progressive, Nationalists.

An East Coast Big City Slicker Carpetbagging Con Man, and they won't admit it to themselves.
Nothing sadder than watching a bunch of people who pride themselves on being able to spot sham and then doubling down on the grifter selling it due to their own dumbass pride.

At least we know where one TX senator stands on eminent domain:

Margaret Chadbourn@MLChadbourn

More Cruz... “So securing the border is a legitimate area for eminent domain where landowners would get reasonable and just compensation...” arguing land for the wall falls under public use. @TXCapTonight @SpecNewsATX @SpecNewsSA @SpectrumNewsDC
