Sugarland Mayor, David Wallace was kicked to the curb by the Republican Party, as the GOP has selected Dr. Shelley Sekula-Gibbs, a former Houston City councilwoman, as the write-in candidate for this year's congressional election.
I have to say this. This is an excellent choice. Wallace has a lot of ethics problems, and I think by making this choice, Republicans here in the Houston area are picking someone whose campaign will not be marked by the Tom Delay syndrome. She doesnt have a great chance of winning, but she does have a chance. Although only 4 write-in candidates have ever been elected to congress, the GOP does have a chance to make this the 5th, thereby keeping the seat.
This will be a great race to follow this fall.
