Dozens of passengers who were aboard the Mavi Marmara Turkish passenger ship are suspected of having connections with global jihad-affiliated terrorist organizations, defense officials said on Tuesday, amid growing concerns that Turkish warships would accompany a future flotilla to the Gaza Strip.

According to the defense officials, the IDF has identified about 50 passengers on the ship who could have terrorist connections with global jihad-affiliated groups.

During its searches of the Mavi Marmara on Tuesday, the military also discovered a cache of bulletproof vests and night-vision goggles, as well as gas masks. On Monday morning, at least nine foreign activists were killed during the navy’s takeover of the Mavi Marmara, which was trying to break Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip.

The group of over 50 passengers with possible terror connections have refused to identify themselves and were not carrying passports. Many of them were carrying envelopes packed with thousands of dollars in cash.

The military is working to identify the passengers and is looking into the possibility that some of them have been involved in terror attacks. Some of them are apparently known Islamic extremists.

“This is the group that was behind the violent lynch against the naval commandos,” a defense official said. “They came on board the ship prepared and after they had trained for the expected navy takeover.”...

Even if it is true...those items are not offensive, they're defensive. It's as if they had a "cache of shields" or a "cache of helmets"...and the boarding by the IDF commando shows that they were actually right to have defensive items. If these are the only things found on the boat that could justify the boarding and massacre, it's really ridiculous.

The thing is... several pistols were found with an empty magazines.. they've shot on israeli forces as well as stabbing, clubbing and slicing the soldiers.. the IDF used a paintball rifles and didnt mean to use live ammunition, if you saw the videos you can see a mob is rushing on each soldier, if live fire was not played a roll.. we've probobly heard several soldiers killed by linch.

2. The IDF used the most non lethal weapons.. paintball rifles, after the mob attacked the soldiers it was their decision about opening fire after the "activists" fired first live ammunision.
If someone shoots at you.. how you react when there is no place to run but only a gun is at your disposal?

You respond in "OK and?" that means i'm right.. that the brutality of the "activists" was over the scale.. and the soldiers only responded as any human would..? the other issue is if it was OK to start the entire operation on internasional waters.. the action itself was right.. but not the place and time.

Have you seen the video shot with night vision cameras. It shows the commandos repeling down to the upper deck and mobs of peace activist with chains, bars, and knifes taking the commands to the deck attacking them relentlessly. And you are defending the terrorist scum peace activist over the IDF. Why do you support terrorist bent on provoking Israel who had to institute a blockade on Gaza to keep weapons from Iran out. A peaceful convoy with peaceful materials on the ship doesn't assault Israeli commandos as they repel down.

However the issue is not whether the materials were for purposes of peace, but what the intentions of those delivering the materials, and those who are to use the materials are. Brick and mortar, so to speak, can build both a mosque and a barracks. Shields can deflect bullets from both a terrorist and a freedom fighter.
The fact stands that no one has yet to show that the intention of the convoy was peaceful.
