It's fine for anyone to protest. Hopefully they understand there is only one commander in chief.

Who doesn't listen to the people that elected him.

I give up. Who? You have no way to support that comment, Billo. You'd like to think he listens to no one and, of course, you like to assert such things, but it just doesn't hold up. I have no doubt the President listens to many people. Citizens, advisors, military generals, congress. In the end, he decides what will happen. I know it sucks that you disagree and wish it were different, but ah well.

I like to think the President knows more than I and the average Joe off the street. I imagine he's privy to all kinds of info that the general populace doesn't know crap about. If that's untrue, God help us all.

No he doesn't! He fires generals that disagree with him. He makes decisions without considering the intelligence reports. And he is so detached from reality, that he doesn't (or does not care) see the nation telling him (via unprecedented results of the past election) to end this war.

CSPAN estimated a couple of thousand with all the usual suspects, Kucinich, Conyers, Waters, Jackson "Hanoi Jane" Fonda..........Considering all the publicity and the hate mongers involved in the Anti Troop rally I would think the attendance would have to be very disappointing.........
It just burns you up that Americans would assemble and protest something they vehemently disagree with our President on, doesn't it? As I read your many posts in this thread you were either making fun of the entire event or simply putting down everything about it. I think you must have posted at least half a dozen times too...all about one sentence long and not once did you actually debate...so just for fun and to stay on topic Navy Pride I think that one of the things that makes America greater than the rest of the world is that we can gather tens of thousands of protesters peacefully and not worry about being harrassed or arrested....

But then we have Debate Politics and here we find that indeed there are so-called Americans who do actually harrass those who choose to use their Constitutional right to protest our government by posting childish little barbs and posts that mock the people they disagree with.

I think that's too bad and actually, the epitome of being anti-American...ironic in a way too.

All the pro-war people lost bigtime in the last election. That's because the majority of Americans want this war to end. And what does Bush do? He does the opposite of American sentiment. He sends MORE troops.

Your spin cycle is one overdrive tonight, Billo. Could you provide evidence that show the generals were replaced "because they disagreed " with the President. We all know they were replaced, but you're only assuming you know why.

Detached from reality? What study shows this? What poll was done on his detachment from reality? I know you'rte jealous, Billo, but try and debate with something other than emotion.

Many in this nation wish he would end this war, and that's fine. But they have to understand that they aren't the last word. He decides.

The government derives its authority from the governed. The American people are his boss. And the results of the last election is prima facia evidence the American people have said no to the war.

Do you realize you are arguing in favor of a non-representative government? Do you not realize they are our elected officials that are supposed to represent us? And what Bush is doing now is not representing us. If he was, there would be more Republicans in office today.

Just look at the sheer numbers of people showing up at anti-war rally's as opposed to pro-war rally's. Thousands upon thousands showing up to protest the war all over the world. And how many showed up for a pro-war rally last year? ................40!

Billo:

You've forgot....as CA will aptly tell you GWB is "The decider"....he "decides things"....and its "hard work".....

I think the point is....too bad he doesn't listen to the people who know what they are talking about before "deciding".

I'm not going to be drawn in by your inciting and flame baiting. Instead, would you like to reply and stay on topic?

Your display of sheepishness leaves very little room for debate. You believe that Bush's word is final and that this country should be led by a single person in a dictator like manner. Wether or not they are wrong is something that must never be brought up because then right wing harpies like Ann Coulter begin accusing people of being flag burning communists or much like yourself accuse people of being "jealous". Forgive me if I dont share your belief. I disagreed with Clinton when that **** with Bosnia went down, I disagreed with Clinton on the DADT bull. The President of the U.S. is in that very small group of people where every single decision they make and every single sentence that comes out of their mouths is open to criticism. To believe that the president is above any type of criticism is far from reality and to believe that because he is "the decider" he can make any decision he wants simply because he is "the decider" and has the final say is pretty darn stupid.

PS : Who the hell is jealous of Bush Jr. right now? The man has more problems then a black guy at a KKK rally or a Christian at a Hezbollah office party. There is a difference between the country needing change and jealousy. The country needs change because Bush Jr. has proven himself to be a worthless leader. A chickenhawk. All mouth no teeth. A pitbull without teeth who tried to eat more babyfood then it could handle.

He's Bushalicious!

When it comes to matters of the military, his word is final. Sorry if you don't like it.

Forgive me if I dont share your belief.
You don't need to be forgiven about that. You are free to disagree.

No one said you can't criticize him.

Great. Remember to vote in 2008.

.

That's scary...if you really believe that. Isn't that exactly what led to the Third Reich. If we adopt the attitude that the President is a King or a Dictator and can do whatever they want because they are the "commander in chief"...then we really have spiraled into a very very sad state.

Can we please go back to the more sarcastic CurrentAffairs?

I don't know if I can handle the current diplomatic CurrentAffairs!

Who said anything about him being dictator or king? Oh yeah, that was you.

Unless you want to rewrite the constitution and the duties of the POTUS, then the commander in chief is the last word militarily. Nothing new about this.

Again...that is truly scary. I am glad that we live in a country where people are not willing to sit back and allow the President to make decisions without being held accountable....oh...and yes....I said King/Dictator....but it is the attitude of people who are willing to give absolute power over to one individual that allow our Country to head in that direction.

Well again, that's what our constitution says with regard to the President's duties and his role as CinC. It may be scary to you, but it's always been that way.

Actually the post you responded to was 4 line so much for that.......

I saw it in Nam and I don't want to see it again the left in this country giving aid and comfort to the enemy..........I mean for christ sake champs there was not respected or moderate politician or personality at that anti troop rally.......Where was Kerry, Murtha, Durbin and Kennedy? Where were these blowhards?

Ok...Navy...drop the talking points and propoganda and answer this simple question:

Who is the enemy in Iraq?

And don't give us the "terrorists" answer.

Who is the enemy? Who are our troops fighting in Iraq?

It seems like there is a war between the shiites and the sunnis and neither side likes us......so who is the enemy we are fighting?
