I'm posting this thread before I even have a list of my own completed.

But I'm interested in what others might come up with.

Please list the ten things you would do or change to make the world a better place

(assuming the ideas could be made possible, of course)

Thanx!

P.S. Please try to keep it realistic.

In no certain order,... and I may come up with 10 more.

1: Ban Elective Abortion (who seen that coming?)

2: Term Limits on the House and Senate

3: Elected officials have to live with (under) the same programs they place on the people they serve

4: More sunset clauses on laws made so that unless they can be re-justified, they simply go away.

5: Less taxation and more incentives to grow the economy

6: Rebuild and re-used cleared lands and stop urban sprawl

7: De-criminalize mere drug possession to make room for more violent offenders to be held longer.

8: Death Penalty for Rapists

9: End reliance on foreign Oil

10: Reform entitlement programs that enable (so called) fathers to abandon their kids and leave women to raise their kids alone,... and programs that send money to people who use it to go to the casinos, buy beer and support other vices,... rather than use the money for the needs it was applied for.

1. No one would ever go to bed hungry because there's no food.
2. Everyone would take personal responsibility for their actions -- and for themselves.
3. People would understand that their right to swing their arms ends where their neighbor's nose begins.
4. Children and animals would never be abused.
5. All religions would respect all religions.
6. Those more fortunate would willingly help those who've fallen on hard times...be it their next-door neighbor or around the world.
7. Women across the globe would be considered equal to men.
8. Everyone would have the right and the means to get an excellent education.
9. All people would be able to find work that's meaningful to them.
10. Jack Kavorkian would be thirty years younger and still fightin' the fight.

I'm sure there are better ones. But these couldn't hurt. ;-)

I don't know how realistic they are,... or if I could stomach #10.... But thanks for participating.

1. Everyone learns and masters at least one martial art starting from the time they are able to walk.
2. Everyone learns and masters at least one trade starting from when they are able to walk.
3. We stop making and eating crappy food (Twinkies, doughnuts, chips, sugar water)
4. We develop the use of programmable matter
5. We develop and utilize a wold-wide neural network that creates an at-will link between all of humanity
6. We allow the carrying, use, and training with martial weapons in everyday settings
7. We drop our prohibitions against polygamy, polyamory, pre-marital sex, homosexuality, and other alternative sexualities
8. We require the study of philosophy in school from kindergarten on
9. We re-format the UN to properly do it's job
10. We transition into a democratic Socialist society

I've got like a hundred of these :)

Wow,....

What have I done?

Do you have an issue with my ideas?

Nope,....

Well, I'm trying not to.

Your list just helps me see more clearly than I expected,... that a "better world" means different things to different people.

Thanks for your list just the same.

A better world, to me, means a stronger and more disciplined population that is willing and able to work together to accomplish and overcome obstacles.

That sounds like an even more interesting thread.

"A better world, to me means _________________________________________" <--- fill in the blank.

10: Stop all public funding of "Global Warming Research" and divert those funds to something useful, tax cuts.

9: Disband the United Nations.

8: Create a new International Organization with strict entry rules, based on human rights, economic and political freedom.

7: Replace the Nobel Prize committee's with that soccer predicting Octopus.

6: Ban Soccer and replace it with NFL Football across the globe.

5: Outlaw puppymills.

4: Round up anyone diagnosed with HIV and place them on an island that they cannot leave. Wait 20 years for the crisis to end. Save millions of future lives.

3: Stop all trade globally with China, Iran, NK and Cuba. (at least until their gov'ts collapse.)

2: Ban Papparazzi.

1: Have a global effort to place man on Mars by 2025.

I'm onboard with these.
As for #4, I'd end meat-eating altogether, and feed the world on plant-based food, although I know that would not be popular.

As for #10, poor Dr. Kevorkian has fought long enough.
He's 83 years old, has recently spent eight years in prison, and is dying of Hepatitis C.
It is society's fault- not Kevorkian's- that nobody has the balls to take up his torch.
I wish him the dignified, pain-free death he helped so many others find.
Someday he'll be remembered as a revolutionary and a martyr.

YES!! Re Dr. Kevorkian. Absolutely! And it's funny you mention meat eating. I almost posted that.

1. Make all international disputes be resolved by a game of chess.
2. Develop sustainable primary industries.
3. Develop programs to teach trades and the arts to children in poverty stricken places of the world.
4. Free education for all.
5. Ban any other rival codes of football and replace it with AFL
6. Connect every person to the internet
7. Replace petrol powered cars with hydrogen powered ones (this only applies to cars and buses, things used for every day transport, the rest can keep petrol 'cause we need bitumen for the roads)
8. Shoot all feral animals in Australia
9. Introduce better conservation programs for endangered species
10. end world hunger, ensure world peace, make everyone happy

Would only do 1 thing.

I wouldn't design any kind of crazy utopian policy to make the world a better place because it would inevitably fail.

1. Dismantle the UN
2. Dismantle NATO.
3. Form an Organization of Republic States. Staff ORS with Republics and Democracies for General Assembly.
4. We retain veto in ORS. Staff Executive Assembly with top 10 economic countries.
5. Fund ORS collectively with all of the direct and indirect aid money currently issued to other states. Reissue aid from this organization.
6. Determine top 3 dictatorships or failed states with respect to their negative impact of global trade and states security: plan to deal with them over next ten years. Issue ultimatums.
7. Prepare Democratic Armed Forces.
8. Invade and install democracies.
9. Repeat 6-9.
10. Institute Instant Runoff Voting for all US elections.

I can't think of a better list than this... except for #10, mostly because I'd need to give it more thought. I would replace #10 with: create a world with no government where people live in complete freedom yet in complete balance with one another and nature.

I know... it's a difficult reality to envision, but you did ask for my personal improvements :)

I would make the world more tolerant, but education tends to do that nicely. People have a bad habit of using government to enforce their beliefs on everyone else, whether it be for economic, moral, or social gain.

Eliminate 90% of the world's human population.

Seriously, it's getting tight in here.

A better world to me means Jessica Alba dropping the restraining order and saying, "Ok, I give up. I'm yours now."

Oh yeah, and I guess world peace and feed the hungry and all that crap. As long as I get Alba.

1. The human brain's structure is altered, so that everyone compulsively tells the truth all the time.
2-10 See #1.

Hm, no on second thought that would probably lead to mass murder and eventual nuclear apocalypse...

Nevermind.
