(Sept. 12) -- More than 400 students from Norwin High School in western Pennsylvania got an unexpected eyeful Friday, when a big screen presentation on the importance of donating blood suddenly turned into an X-rated slideshow.

The hardcore images -- described by students as gay pornography, according to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette -- were stored on a portable flash drive owned by a Central Blood Bank employee. That USB stick also contained the safe-for-all-ages PowerPoint presentation. But unfortunately, the Gazette noted, when Assistant Principal Tim Kotch plugged the drive into a computer, he unwittingly clicked on the wrong file, causing several explicit photos to appear on the school's giant TV screen.

For laugh factor, the employee was there:
"That's what popped up, but I don't think [the Central Blood Bank employee] realized that was on there at the time, and he was truly embarrassed for what happened," student Dan Jones told the TV news show. "He was just shocked. He, like, put his hand on the stage and covered his head. He was so ashamed of himself for having that."

However, the part that brought me to post this is:

Those hardcore images may have caused snickers among the students, but they look certain to result in the Central Blood Bank being hit with a seriously hefty lawsuit. "They tell me it lasted about 30 seconds, which is a long time," attorney Peter J. Payne, who has been hired by parents of several students who attended the presentation, told Channel 4. "Every parent that I've talked to is very concerned. We're still talking about the senior class, but these kids are 17, 18 years old at the most."
The parents thinking about suing, need to be slapped. The lawyer? Dunked in hot jello and fed to starving cats.

This isn't a reason to sue, this is part of WHAT'S WRONG IN AMERICA. An Employee broke the rules of his company, and made an utter ass of himself. That's no reason to seek a jackpot lottery decision from a lawsuit against the Blood Bank, or the School.

That part disgusts me to no end.

How would they show damages?

And the blood bank has no assets.

Sounds like local news reporter overzealous speculation.

Ha, that hilarious.

And those parents looking to sue suck. It's not like their kids haven't seen that kind of stuff before, looking it up on their own free will more than likely.

I'll bet you anything that the vast majority of these kids have already seen porn.

**** this sue happy culture, it's rediculous.

I laughed my ass off.
Some people just never think to keep you porn and your presentations stored on separate disks.

Obscenity laws carry hefty fines in some areas.
But i doubt it would go there, as well.

I'm sueing Mr V for exposing me to this porno story....oh my poor virgin eyes LOL

I agree that any parent wants to file suit are off base. However it is grounds for charges of distributing pornography to miner children. There are plenty of people in jail for doing less with fewer children.

Call the FBI, don't file suit, unless of course your child must now have consoling because of trauma but I would buy that.

obviously an honest mistake, having something as embarrassing as that happen to you is bad enough. No need to contemplate suing, I think that is a bit over the top.

It may have been an honest mistake, but it was also a stupid mistake.

What idiot would put work-related material on the same flash/thumb/USB drive he keeps his gay porn on?

I had a science teacher in HS that accidently did that once. He left a video tape running, left the room, and, what he forgot that he had taped over the science content with, played on...

He was fired, but entered into legend.

I wonder if this means they put the gay in our stored blood and give it to teenagers.

They're after blood. :lamo

I can get on board with the fed to cats option.

But can we throw in ALL lawyers while we're at it?

Was Southernman's kid in that class?

Well, Larry Flynt would be very proud. He went to the Supreme Court about the freedom to propagate porn, and won. Attitudes have sure loosened up over the last 30 years. That's a good thing. Better to goof up showing sex than depictions of violent death.

Regards from Rosie

Yep - things have loosened up alot.

No pun intended!

Mind you, though, we're not reducing our exposure to violence  And if that showed up on his presentation it would have been absolutely no big deal and not even mentioned in the news.

I do believe the school should be sued. It's irresponsible for someone to save gay porn on a company flash drive. Not only that, but it's a violation of laws regarding pornographic content. The school screwed up and should be sued for their actions.

Why should the school be sued? It's not their fault.

And frankly it's no big deal.
