One of the great talents of American politics has left us.

[SIZE="+2"]T[/SIZE]ed Sorensen, who served as President John F. Kennedy's adviser and primary speechwriter, died today at New York Presbyterian Hospital of complications from a stroke he suffered last week. He was 82.

Mr. Sorensen was instrumental in helping write "Profiles in Courage," the 1956 book for which Kennedy won a Pulitzer Prize. He later became part of the president's inner circle, helping craft Kennedy's national addresses as well as his delicate correspondence with Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev during the Cuban Missile Crisis. …
