INDIANAPOLIS — Ted Cruz, the insurgent Texan whose presidential campaign was fueled by disdain for Washington, prepared to announce he was leaving the race Tuesday night, removing the last major hurdle in Donald Trump’s quest to become to become the Republican nominee for president.Cruz’s decision came after losing overwhelmingly to Trump in the Indiana primary, all but ensuring that real estate mogul will claim his party’s mantle at the Republican National Convention in July.
The exit comes after a series of desperate moves to keep his candidacy afloat in recent weeks, including naming former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina as his running mate in a bizarre announcement where Cruz spoke for a half hour and Fiorina sang to his young daughters.

Down goes Ted! Looks like Republicans will sink to a new low and Trump will be the nominee.

Just saw that on Politico. Frankly, it was inevitable.

I'm listening to him on Fox...talking and talking and talking...

I wish he would just cut to the chase and tell everyone he quits.

Clinton vs. Trump.

Similar to cancer vs. heart disease.

Goodbye. Thank God.

Well GOP, time to embrace the Trump.

Now if we could get him to disappear from politics completely we'd truly have a major victory.

No, that's why he's dropping out now. He got the message from his donors - drop out or have no political future.

From the sound of it, republicans where getting really worried about the idea of a contested convention, which was Cruz's only route to getting the nomination. With the loss here, he had nothing left to gain. He can try again in 4 years.

I voted for Trump. Because i knew he could never win a national election.

Going to be a fun year.:

Well, FrankenTrump gets the nod....

He is, has been and will continue to be the Republican's worst nightmare.

They should have paid attention to their own 2012 autopsy and this would not have happened.

Thank you for linking the RNC growth document. This is going to be one of the most critical documents in analyzing this primary and maybe even the general election in years and decades to come.

Looking at the state of things... it is now virtually certain.

Hillary Clinton Vs. Donald Trump for President.

God help us all.

Wrong again - eight years.

I'll happily vote for Clinton under this circumstance. I'd much rather have status quo ineffectiveness to the upheaval Trump, Cruz, and Sanders.

I'm staring at the increasingly radicalized American public, and I'm getting frightened. I now trust my many of my leaders more than my neighbors.

Sanders isn't done yet. He can very easily go (I). His supporters want it, and there are a lot of them.

Looks like I'm voting for Kasich June 7. Maybe even during the general too...

The United States of America is officially, history. Sad.

After Heidi called Ted an immigrant, I figured it was over. Cruz is a senator from here, but he's been known to be the Beelzebub incarnate. God bless his heathen soul, amen.
