Huh....I will grant that no medical procedure is without risk, but this one has me scratching my head.....I have received and performed local nerve blocks ( if that is indeed what the Physician was doing) , but I have to wonder just how large the needle gauge and length was that the MD was using.

The intercostal nerves run very shallow ( except at the point of origin at the spine) along the underside of each rib, and would not require a very long needle.
