The House Ways and Means Committee kicked off its attempts to obtain the president's filings Thursday.

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump exhibited “aggressive tax planning” prior to his 2016 election and “could have eliminated his taxes for a couple of decades” by claiming millions in business-related losses, tax expert Steven Rosenthal told a congressional panel Thursday.

“There is a lot to find,” said Rosenthal, a senior fellow at the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center who has scrutinized portions of Trump’s 1995 and 2005 returns last year in partnership with the New York Times.

I'll just bet there will be a lot to find. I heard on TV tonight that Trump threw around approximately $400M in the years before he ran for office. Wonder where that money came from? The laundry? Some big real estate deals with Russian oligarchs that look like serious money laundering.

We know there isn't anything illegal in his tax returns. If there were, the IRS would have already been all over him, with all the times he's been audited.

So that means this "lot to find" is nothing but personal and confidential information about his business dealings that the Trump haters can apply their spin, speculation, innuendo and hyperbole to for no other reason than to make him look bad.

It's all about manipulating public opinion ahead of the 2020 election.

It's a shame the Dem House would stoop so low as to use their Congressional power for blatantly political purposes, but that's how low they go.

Scumbag repeatedly promised to release his tax records. Scumbag will be receiving a strongly worded invitation to keep his promise.

Should make for some good drama. Trump LOVES drama.

Of course, there's a lot to find. All his companies are pass-through entities. It's a good bet that the IRS auditors who review his returns run out of time going through it all.

Classic case of a witch hunt. Just investigate for political purposes until you find something.

Great find. This completely explains Democrats since Nov 2016. The funniest part is the House now taking up the very same investigations that Mueller is doing. I guess after a couple of years and over 30 million dollars spent, Democrats don't trust the Mueller investigation to find anything.

He doesn’t have Trump’s returns. He is speaking generally about what can be learned from tax returns.

Doesn't this "tax expert" know that is how business works?

Why would that be something of note?

There may wel be a lot to find, but unless this guy has actually seen Trump's tax returns, he doesn't know any more than the rest of us. His guess is more informed, maybe, but he does not know.

All the dirty politicians going back for decades and decades have let us see their tax returns. The really clean business man is fighting as hard as he can to keep us from seeing his.

I hope you guys aren't that gullible.

Oh by the way...
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 50% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-nine percent (49%) disapprove.
