Tanzania bans lube in crackdown on gays

This law harms women just as much as it harms gay men.

When dry tissues tear they become susceptible to the full range of STIs.

But what can you expect from an ignorant government run by evangelicals? I bet you those politicians will have no problem securing their own secret stash of lubricants.

gives new meaning to the "slippery slope" argument. First its condoms, then KY jelly, next thing you know dildos are going to be banned!
 
their justification:

"It is estimated that 23 percent of men who have sex with men in Tanzania are living with HIV/AIDS," he added.

"I have instructed stakeholders working with gay people to remove the products from the market."

Groups working with the gay community were handing out the lube for free, the minister said.

"The ministry has agreed to work with stakeholders to give the ministry the money they were using to buy and import the lubricants so we could use it to buy beds for the maternity wards."

Gay male sex is punishable by life imprisonment under Tanzanian law, but there is no such ban on lesbian relations.

The intent is grounded in absolute reality. You are (supposedly) born gay. BIRTH. And if everyone were gay, the species would die out. DEFECT. By definition it's a birth defect.

There is all the reality you need.

A hypothetical that's impossible, since nature has dictated that x % (no more, no less) of the population will be gay. It's a trait that has evolved right alongside the species. A defect is something that does not go according to plan and could've been avoided, like a car part that was trashed before leaving the factory. A 'birth defect' is therefore a contradiction in terms. This is just today's homophobe speak for 'disorder' (and in fact, there are genetic disorders - mutations that cause diseases like sickle cell anemia), which was yesterday's homophobe speak for 'mental illness'

Just like you call the transgender mentally ill and your kids will cause it a disorder and their kids will call it a defect and *their* kids will call it normal

Nope. 100 years ago birth defects were called that....and will be called that in the future. Especially when we gain more understanding of the human genome. Imagine a world where we could turn the gay 'gene' OFF in utero. Problem solved if we can ever identify it.
