In other news, the Taliban announced a major shift in domestic policy in allowing women to attend universities.
With what? A sternly worded letter? As long as they aren’t hurting Americans
now if they do, we need to respond
Afghanis did not want to fight for there freedoms they gained in 20 years. They will get no sympathy from this corner. The Ministry for Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice -- something that Democrats are slowly building towards, with their Ministry of Truth -- is now officially back in force with the Taliban:

How can we not act when people are being beheaded and women whipped and tortured in public because."sharia law ". Its ****ing disgustingCool story. Are you saying Trump should not have signed a deal with them to withdraw? Or that Biden should not have followed through with it?
Did you want to stay there for another 20 years and a few more $trillion and then leave?
The same way we don't act when the same or worse kinds of bad shit happens in other areas of the world. How can we not act when people are being beheaded and women whipped and tortured in public because."sharia law ". Its ****ing disgusting
'splosions. With what? A sternly worded letter?
They have hundreds of Americans. What do you think they will do with them if we start threatening them?
Depends how legit they want to try and go.'splosions.
was that an answer to'splosions.
It looks like the latest estimate is around 100was that an answer to

To be fair, you are much more likely to know people who are more intimately involved with this sort of thing.:snorts: it isn't, though. That is the number they are saying out loud. The real number is higher, and we are finally managing to pull out numbers in public regarding legal permanent residents (which the Administration has previously studiously avoided mentioning), to say nothing of our Allies citizens, whom we forced them to abandon, or the Afghans to whom we promised protection, and then abandoned.
We were talking about around a 1500 citizens a few days before we flew out, however, the only people that got to fly out were those who were in Kabul, and could make it through the survival-of-the-fittest fight through the crowd around HKIA (that's important because A) not all citizens were in Kabul and B) many of them couldn't fight their way through the crowds, and C) the Taliban turned back some of them who did so) Then, when we flew out, we said "Hundreds" of citizens. Since then, the State Department has proudly boasted that 4 have managed to escape.
Meanwhile, Blinken went from saying 350, to 250 to 150 to 100 in the space of, what, a day or two?
I'm not a math doctor, but, "Low Hundreds" - 4 =/= 100.
Technically, it could be both.was that an answer to

There are people broken by this process. Not that it compares to the situation of those left behind, but, I'm glad I didn't have to be one of the ones answering the phone. To be fair, you are much more likely to know people who are more intimately involved with this sort of thing.
The problem becomes, if they (say) beat and rape 3 female AMCIT'S, and so we strike them,It looks like the latest estimate is around 100
Blinken Says US Working with Taliban on Flights
Blinken said the U.S. believes there are “somewhere around 100” American citizens still in Afghanistan who want to leave.www.military.com
I don't care about green card holders, but if the Taliban does harm the citizens, then we should rain holy hell on them.
Unfortunately, this whole thing appears to be a slowly moving ****up that took over a year to finally crash. There are people broken by this process. Not that it compares to the situation of those left behind, but, I'm glad I didn't have to be one of the ones answering the phone.
It's like the old adage about going broke - it happened very slowly, and then all of a sudden.Unfortunately, this whole thing appears to be a slowly moving ****up that took over a year to finally crash.
Well I'd be careful with throwing that stone, if I were you. It's the Republicans trying to Handmaid Tale this shit, just look at their oppressive anti-abortion laws already. The Ministry for Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice -- something that Democrats are slowly building towards, with their Ministry of Truth -- is now officially back in force with the Taliban:

As for the Taliban, they're a bunch of ultra-right religious nutjobs. You can't trust those folk.
Most of their main army folded, but their special forces did not. There are Afghans who are still fighting the Taliban.
The problem was that they were being made to fight a war with one arm tied behind their backs. Just like in Vietnam. When US withdrew, ANA folded, just like ARVN folded. It's easy to see why.
The ARVN folded TWO YEARS after the US withdrew.
Hey! Don't give the Texas Taliban legislature anymore ideas please. The Ministry for Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice -- something that Democrats are slowly building towards, with their Ministry of Truth -- is now officially back in force with the Taliban:

True, but don't forget -- the US wasn't funding the North Vietnamese side -- unlike in this latest war.
The NVA simply weren't able to advance as quickly as the Taliban and their patron did, with the largesse of American tax dollars.
US military forces were withdrawn from Vietnam in February of 1973. (Operation Homecoming) South Vietnam surrendered to North Vietnamese forces on April 30 1975. More than two years after US forces had been withdrawn. Whereas the Afghan government capitulated to the Taliban in just 11 days. There is no real comparison between the two. Most of their main army folded, but their special forces did not. There are Afghans who are still fighting the Taliban.
