I just read on my forum about this new development, apparently a petition to Congress has been sent, for a complete and full investigation in to the status of Taiwan. It would appear that some believe we took this Island during WW2, and as it was controlled by our military for over a year, some believe we "bought the farm" so to speak. I don't pretend to know much about this, as I just learned of it, I just wondered if anyone else had heard this?
