You want to know something funny? I know of grocery store that was attacked for zoning violations by a county attorney that was known for using zoning laws to “reward his friends, and attack his enemies,” all for a sign the store had for years. The store went out of business paying fines, the last time I looked the building was a Mosque near a street that used to be named after the president of the Confederate States of America. I guess there are too many rednecks with shotguns still around to riot safely.

We have too many other fish to fry to militarily fight Syria right now. However, NATO and its allies should press this issue as we did the Hariri assassination. Political pressure alone can topple regimes in some cases, and Syria seems like it is primed for that.

The cartoon in question, which I can’t read, or even see clearly, appears to me to serve only one logical purpose at this time, to inflame Muslims at the very moment when we are barely able to hold Iraq together. The claim that all democratic states must accept such publicly displayed pornography (from the Muslim perspective) as “freedom of speech” is ridiculous; the claim that all states much forbid such “freedom of speech“ is arrogant and exactly what I would expect from a tyrant or mini-tyrant of terror: a government that must allow pornography should still be able to apologize for it.

Should we fail in Iraq it will only work to remove the political pressure, of a free democratic Iraq, to change their neighbors into governments of the people that must face responsibility.

We do not want war with Iran or Syria at this time, or ever, unless we have a real coalition as powerful as the one in WWII, otherwise we can’t hold any progress made in Iraq. And to trust the UN to be that coalition would be stupid beyond belief. NATO is not going to do it either, when the real target is spread throughout the world including Palestine.
