Has anybody else noticed a huge surge in personal and petty insults towards people and politicians coming from both sides over the last 10 years or so? The arguments and deflections are getting more and more childish. If you find yourself referring to the president as "tRump" or AOC as some dumb bimbo you might want to reassess how old you are.

I was 11 years old when Clinton left office. I was just a kid, but even in the 90s and early 2000s it seemed a lot better. The reaction to the election of a black president and now an alt-right nationalist seems to really be the tipping point. The polarization is reaching critical mass. If it gets any worse I wouldn't be surprised to see these lunatics slaughtering each other at voting locations.

The poster that went back to Newt Gingrich had it right as Newt institutionalized the elimination of negotiation and compromise in the House. That is EXACTLY what started the process of people going to their corners over everything and anything which ultimately infected the Senate and governance generally and then politics generally and caused the political rhetoric to get worse by the minute. With that tool in their tool chest the GOP HILL leadership compelled a NO COOPERATION, total resistance mandate from its members in 2009 simply because Obama was a black man with the audacity to stand in the door of the WH.
