Has anybody else noticed a huge surge in personal and petty insults towards people and politicians coming from both sides over the last 10 years or so? The arguments and deflections are getting more and more childish. If you find yourself referring to the president as "tRump" or AOC as some dumb bimbo you might want to reassess how old you are.

It’s so yucky. They’re all dumb-dumbs.

But just to continue in the same vein: politics has always been an ugly game. But this level of petty, below the belt, dirty, hyperpartisan, party-before-country, no holds barred politics, I think, started with Newt Gingrich back in the 1990s. H was such a poopy-head.

“Na-uh.”

“Uh-huh.“

“Uh-huh....”:)

I was 11 years old when Clinton left office. I was just a kid, but even in the 90s and early 2000s it seemed a lot better. The reaction to the election of a black president and now an alt-right nationalist seems to really be the tipping point. The polarization is reaching critical mass. If it gets any worse I wouldn't be surprised to see these lunatics slaughtering each other at voting locations.

It started about 10 years ago when the democrats adopted a new strategy to discredit and silence anyone who disagreed with President Obama's actions or policy proposals (specifically Obamacare). They did this by labeling them as a "racist", and thus the race card strategy was born. That crossed the line of civil discourse and things have gone steadily downhill ever since.

Well you're right about one thing. It definitely got a lot worse when the first black president was elected. People got nasty real fast. Trump claimed he wasn't even American and thus illegitimate. He's now trying it again with Harris. I wonder what the two have in common and why Trump has never tried that with a white Democrat. Must be a coincidence right?

Of you don't see the racism in claiming black politicians aren't American and are illegitimate, you're part of the problem.

Unfortunately, something like that already happened.

Thankfully, I don't think anyone was killed.

You do realize that birtherism started in the camp of democratic supporters, right?

And Trump isn't spreading anything about Harris. He was asked a question about the story and he said that he didn't know if it was true.

So you can take your lies elsewhere.

Obama came out of the gate running on the race card, and played it to anyone who would listen.

He single handedly and intentionally set back race relations 50 years with his Chicago style politics.

Not just the right though. The left was more than happy to respond in kind. The left has been a huge disappointment to me in the last 10 years. They seem to think it's okay for them to play the same game the Republicans do and it's really not. Being better and having a higher standard is the point. The left has forgotten that.

While BLM is trying to throw us back another 50...

I really hope next year is going on an higher level this time around.

a rather subjective view of what actually happened.

The poster that went back to Newt Gingrich had it right as Newt institutionalized the elimination of negotiation and compromise in the House. That is EXACTLY what started the process of people going to their corners over everything and anything which ultimately infected the Senate and governance generally and then politics generally and caused the political rhetoric to get worse by the minute. With that tool in their tool chest the GOP HILL leadership compelled a NO COOPERATION, total resistance mandate from its members in 2009 simply because Obama was a black man with the audacity to stand in the door of the WH. HOW DARE HE!

Give me a break. Your claim is that the left was just as nasty as the right during the Obama years?

No it didn't, and I care more about the person who kept the lie alive for nearly a decade. Notice how you won't defend Trump's rabid birtherism, you can only attack.

Translation: Every time RetiredUSN thought about Obama being black, it infuriated him so much, he could barely stand it! How DARE an uppitly negro become president? I mean white people oughtn't to stand for it!

They didn't have a president to catalyze their rage like the right did at that time so it didn't look as bad. They absolutely got as nasty in response to the hatred towards Obama, though. That's just how most people are; they respond in kind. Now the left has their rage catalyst. The left gave up their high ground to start digging **** out of the mud to throw back at the Republicans.

No, I'm just pointing out that you omitted something that was tantamount to the times. I'll readily state that Trump pulled a bad move when he jumped on that bandwagon that the democrats started. But I'm glad that he smoothed that BS out eventually.

Now, are you going to address the lie that you just tried to sell about Trump & Harris?

Lol, every time.

Trump Encourages Racist Conspiracy Theory About Kamala Harris

Now, here's your chance to prove me right and gaslight, claiming either he never said it or that now that I've shown you, you simply don't care. Maybe you can claim he was just joking? Go on then, do what you do best and dance for us.

The number one retort of ignorant leftists.

Unfortunately. The mud throwing has done much worse to the democrats, in the long run.

Let's all be honest here. Trump is what one could call, a mud monster.
Could you imagine what it would be like if Oprah really did try to run for president, when that idea was floated.

It would've been horrible to watch that whole thing play out.

You know you're the only one calling any black man, an uppity negro... I can see why Rabid liked your post.

I don't know why everybody keeps thinking it's a good idea to play Trump's game. lol Once the left started talking about Moscow Mitch etc I couldn't help but laugh my ass off. Trump owns their minds.

The Obama's left Chicago a economic waste land for young black people.

And here you go:
“I have no idea if that’s right.”

Take him at his comment all you like. He's not the one saying that she's ineligible.

Where is he saying that she can't be vice-president?

Jesus H. Christ, this is the gas lighting I'm talking about. You don't get to peddle a racist conspiracy theory then add a "I don't know, maybe I'm wrong" at the end to undo it. He's pushing the conspiracy theory and giving it legitimacy.

You never cared in the first place if he did or didn't, it wasn't a factor of you and now that I've shown you he's peddling it you reject it. This is why nobody bothers to provide you the quotes and evidence, you don't care and will gaslight them away.

It's a complete waste of time and I was stupid enough to fall for it again.
