Susan Sarandon organized a demonstration outside the Bronx office of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Monday, reminding the progressive lawmaker that she had made "a lot of promises" to her constituency but has failed to pull out all the stops achieving her healthcare agenda. While speaking at the demonstration Sarandon said "'Im here to say to The Squad, and especially AOC, who, you know, did make a lot of promises, that we still have faith in you and we would like to see if you have a better plan than we've been able to see, please share it, If there's a pathway you've got that we're not aware of, please share it. Because we're losing hope here that you represent us." AOC campaigned on Medicare for All. But failed to demand a floor vote on it when she had the power to leverage the Speaker vote. AOC didn't demand that single-payer be included in the pandemic recovery bill. And AOC moved the introduction of the House bill till after the stimulus bill passed reducing her own leverage. AOC also failed to demand that Biden use Section 1881A of the Social Security Act to expand Medicare to every American by executive action.". For remedy, the petition demands that President Joe Biden – who last year said he'd veto Medicare for All – declare a pandemic health emergency and "expand Medicare to every American using Section 1881A of the Social Security Act."

Well, when you put your faith in bubble-headed nitwits like AOC disappointment will surely follow.

AOC for speaker! :)(y):poop::poop:

Susan Sarandon stopped being germane to me decades ago.

Seems like AOC is becoming the mature politician with realistic expectations, and flexibility to circumstances like the effects of COVID, while Sarandon remains stuck in the same gear.

I'm guessing that developing pragmatism might get the Congresswoman reelected.

Literally none of this makes sense. Protesting AOC for not doing a thing she doesn't have the power to do, which would fail anyway, and not torpedoing the American Rescue Plan (which has already expanded coverage to millions of people), and not "demanding" Biden do a thing he can't do--this all advances single-payer how?

It can't fail if you don't try. I'm thinking Susan, like many regular citizens, expects lawmakers to at least attempt to fulfill their campaign promises.

What the heck? That sounds like Hillary Clinton defending corporatism, not a progressive.

I'm guessing AOC won't have an issue getting re-elected but that 'pragmatism', which is a phony word used to defend plutocracy, could cost her support.

Do right wingers think AOC could wave a magic wand and cause Republicans to vote for M4A?

Plutocracy has nothing to do with it. It's only 7 months into this term. Pragmatism means being realistic about not only what battles to fight, but when to fight them.

Susan Sarandon is on the right track. The big problem will be Joe Biden because he is in the back pocket of the medical insurance industry which I don't believe too many were aware of. I would encourage Susan Sarandon to pull Bernie Sanders, AOC and "the squad" together and start working on a plan to push the nations best medical insurance plan forward. This is imperative.

Someone more out of touch with the majority of Americans than AOC.

More Biden campaign promise lies emerge.

Someone should write a book on broken Biden campaign promises - at least 2,000 pages.

BS reply. Don't quote the dictionary definition and disingenuously try to imply it's relevant. It's one of the constant false attack words used against progressive policies to LIE that they are not pragmatic.

This wasn't about AOC this was about Susan Sarandon getting her name in the news again.

It's about Susan Sarandon demanding more attention for healthcare. Good for her.

A superficial dodge to sidestep the distinction I made about when to fight. Timing may not be relevant to you, but it certainly is to me. Bad timing can contribute to making the perfect the enemy of the good.
