Survey: Over 60% of millennials, Gen Z adults lack knowledge of Holocaust

Sept. 16 (UPI) -- According to a new survey on Wednesday, nearly two-thirds of young American adults are not aware that 6 million Jewish victims died during the Holocaust in World War II -- and some even believe they themselves are responsible for the genocide.

The study was commissioned by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, also known as the Claims Conference.

According to the results of the Millennial Holocaust Knowledge and Awareness Survey, 63% of young adults in the United States aren't aware of the death toll of the Holocaust.

The poll is a state-by-state snapshot on how millennials and Generation Z members understand the history of the Holocaust, now that there are fewer survivors to personally tell their stories.

COMMENT:-

If I could think of a stronger term than "absolutely appalled" to describe the results of this survey, I'd use it.

I suspect that even fewer know that actual number of people murdered by the Germans under Hitler's Nazi government than the 11% who think that the Jews were responsible for the deaths.

Unfortunately there is no link to their data base.

You might want to take a look at the results of the "socialist European educational system" in comparison with the "socialist American educational system" as hinted at in "The U.S vs Europeans interactive test that shows that Americans really AREN'T very good at geography (with only 28% able to pinpoint Syria on a blank map)" (from The Daily Mail) - admittedly that survey is from 2018.

Mind you, I quite understand that some people feel that there is absolutely nothing wrong with "The Right" - REGARDLESS of how far "right" it is - and that there is absolutely nothing right with "The Left" - REGARDLESS of how little "left" it is (even if "The Left" is actually "The Right" on a global standard as it is in the United States of America).

My ten year old grandson, who goes to public school already hates Trump....now there is nowhere he could of leaned that, except in school. These are the same young adults who have spent the last few months ripping statues and monuments, declaring that America was founded in 1619, that it's a racist nation ECT ect ECT. They have been showing their absolute ignorance over the summer, and so we ought not be surprised that they don't know much, or anything, about the Holocaust.,

Gosh, I guess that that means that the education systems in the rest of the world (all of which consists of countries that are "more socialist" than the United States of America) must be even worse and that must mean that the US always comes out on top of any international study of student achievements (and not 13[sup]th[/sup] in Reading, 37[sup]th[/sup] in Mathematics, and 18[sup]th[/sup] in Science).

Many young Americans cannot name the three branches of government.

Many young Americans cannot find Mexico on a map.

But a lot of young Americans sure know a lot about marching in protest demonstrations & looting.
