And there is a sign that Bush's so-called "faith based" programs could come to an end. The sign was the following question to the US Solicitor General:
"Could the federal government fund churches and ministers of a single religion nationwide dedicated to the proposition that this particular sect is the true sect without fear of taxpayer lawsuits against it?"
Think about it. If the answer is yes, then the logic can easily be extended to organized religion in general, which was Breyer's point. Guess what the Solicitor General's answer was? It was "yes".
As a taxpayer, I do not like the idea of the government taking (stealing) my money and redistributing it to any other person, or group of people, for the purpose of doling out welfare, which is Socialism. This includes religious groups. If I want to donate through my own church, which I do, then it is something that I choose to do on my own, without government interference, intervention, or theft. If the government chooses to partake in a Socialist activity, then let them redistribute my money to ALL qualified groups, and not primarily single out religious organizations, which in my honest opinion, is the promotion of religion in government.
Preferably, however, the Government should just let me keep my own money and decide for myself which groups it should go to.
