Suppose somebody told you: There were 10 of us, 6 Christians and 4 Catholics. How would you comment?

I would inform him that Catholics also belong to Christianity.

What would you say?

I would be puzzled, and tell him to work it out amongst yourselves. These are all man-constructed categories- they are what we decide they are. Sometimes it gets decided by force and a lot of bloodshed. Some people may not find that that's worth it.

Now suppose a Sunni Muslim asked you: There were 10 of us, 6 Muslims and 4 Sunnis. How would you comment?

Would you even care enough to bother to comment? Or just tell them to go figure it out on their own if it's that important to them (and maybe try to avoid killing each other while they are figuring it out)?

I would tell them that Catholics believe they are the one true Christian Church and let them fight it out.

it would be like saying ..... There were 10 of us. 6 from Europe, and 4 from Portugal.

Just nonsense.

And yet at one time major wars were waged for such nonsense, in this particular instance wiping out 1/3 of the entire population of the European continent:

We humans are a tragic bunch indeed.

"Suppose somebody told you: There were 10 of us, 6 Christians and 4 Catholics. How would you comment?"

I'd simply ask what makes you different, then go make popcorn.

Depends if i were a Moslem my self.

Depends if i were a Moslem my self.

Yes perhaps- but no one else would care. And I doubt the universe would care. The universe is way too vast for such petty nonsense concerns.

These are all just social constructs and categories.

"It doesn't seem to me that this fantastically marvelous universe, this tremendous range of time and space and different kinds of animals, and all the different planets, and all these atoms with all their motions, and so on, all this complicated thing can merely be a stage so that God can watch human beings struggle for good and evil β€” which is the view that religion has. The stage is too big for the drama."
-Nobel laureate in physics Richard Feynman

nothing. I don't care what religion anyone is or if they have no religion.

I'd tell them Catholics are worth two Christians, so, 8 to 6.

Greek Orthodox are worth 2.5 to 1, and Orthodox Copts are worth 3 to 1.

it is not only a case of religion, but also of logic and general knowledge

This is not a matter of logic, or facts- it's just a social construct. It can be arbitrary. It's like a culture of society deciding whether to call a tree a "tree", an "arbol", or a "baum". There is nothing logical about what you call it. It's arbitrary, and the society just decides. There is no ultimate truth of the matter to be found. We make this stuff up.

"The trail of the human serpent is over everything".
-William James

Here is in the United States there is a lot of "controversy" about whether Mormons, for example, are real Christians. Meh, they are whatever we say they are. There is no truth of the matter.
