What a bunch of horse ****, Where are these kids parents???? Why aren't they monitoring these kids on the internet?

Suit links MySpace to sex assaults - CNN.com

NEW YORK (AP) -- Four families have sued News Corp. and its MySpace social-networking site after their underage daughters were sexually abused by adults they met on the site, lawyers for the families said Thursday.

I agree, it's not the site's job to monitor this kind of stuff, it's the parents'.

Next thing you know, they'll be suing their local shopping malls for allowing adults to shop there.

I'm with both of you. I really hope this idiocy is dismissed immediately.

Yep, I'm gonna have to agree with you guys. This is ridiculous. If the parents don't want their kids using MySpace, they should watch them more carefully. Same goes for violent movies, video games, pornography, etc.

I have no idea how in the world they're going to blame MySpace for this. What exactly could MySpace have done to prevent this from happening? Nothing.

Myspace is getting a dose of bad publicity lately.

First the video of the girls beating down another girl and posting the video on the site and now this.

I agree, but with a caveat. I think it is ludicrous for Myspace to be sued for this. It is another example of not taking responsibility for one's own actions. Myspace did not tell these kids to go online. Myspace did not tell these scumbag predators to go online. I don't, however, totally blame the parents. True, better supervision was probably needed, but even with great supervision, it is impossible for a parent to completely prevent this kind of thing. Kids will find a way to get online.

...I despise these kinds of parents. Your kids are your own damn responsibility. The world is not child safe. Not the internet, not the streets. If you can't teach your kids something as simple as "never meet strangers in person you met the internet" that is your failing. Myspace is only guilty of having enough money to make it worth suing.

If the kids' own parents can't prevent it, how can they possibly expect an enormous business like NewsCorp to prevent it?

I agree that they can't prevent it entirely, but that isn't NewsCorp's fault.

I agree, completely.
