U.S. weighs cutting Russian oil imports amid broad public support
WASHINGTON, March 4 (Reuters) - The Biden administration is weighing cutting U.S. imports of Russian oil and ways to minimize the impact on global supplies and consumers, the White House said on Friday, as lawmakers fast-track a bill that would ban Russian energy imports entirely.

"We are looking at ways to reduce the import of Russian oil while also making sure that we are maintaining the global supply needs out there," White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters at a briefing. The White House remains in contact with U.S. lawmakers over the issue, she said.

U.S. Senators Joe Manchin, a West Virginia Democrat, and Lisa Murkowski, an Alaska Republican, on Thursday proposed bipartisan legislation to ban Russian energy imports in response to the invasion of Ukraine, calling it a counter to Russia “weaponizing” energy.

The bill is getting fast-tracked in the Senate, and the White House could rely on the legislation to ban imports, a move that would help share the blame for any price spikes.

Many here claimed Biden had no control over shutting gown Russian energy imports.

Verdict: Not True

The world energy market is certainly complicated, but I hope that cutting means eliminating all imports from Russia vs just a portion. If there was ever a time to dip into strategic reserve for the short term, I think this qualifies.

I believe we're dependent on Russian oil to the tune of less than 5 percent. Also, Russia would just dump the oil on the open market.
Also again, look at the prices that most countries pay per gallon of gas. We ain't that bad. >>>>
.

It is amazing witnessing the prices rise and all of the sudden counties and states who all had different prices due to taxes etc are all of the sudden within 5-10 cents with one another. I used to buy gas in Joppa MD it was always 12-15 cents cheaper per gallon than NJ. Guess what they are the same price since the “invasion”. Strange, right? Nope they are screwing us harder because they can use any “shitty” thing to cause a sudden increase per barrel, but man positive news sure takes weeks to months for the price per gallon to drop.
Record oil profits again and again.

Putin is literally shelling civilians and housing. I don't want to pay this madman one single penny for anything.

What are you worried about, gas prices? Seriously...people are dying and you pretend to care more about Russian energy.

you mean after Trump's genius invaded and captured a nuclear plant and stuff?

Yeah, on Biden's watch.

Joe Dumbass is president now, and Russia captured that nuke plant while Joe and Kackles fret over what would happen of we shut off Putin's revenue streams?

What is wrong with democrats? How can you support such mismanagement of a crisis?

I was under the impression that Joe and his buddies wanted gas prices to increase to get all of us deplorables to buy electric cars. Are you saying he's rethinking that idea?

Verdict: Not True
It is Biden who is helping to fund Russia's war against the Ukraine. By shutting down the Keystone XL pipeline, denying the permits in ANWR, killing the sanctions that were already in place on Russia's NordStream II pipeline, and importing oil from Russia, Biden is funding Russia's war.

No Russian operative could have benefited Putin and Russia's war against the Ukraine more than Biden already has. Now Biden wants to continue the Democrat's love-affair with international terrorism by buying oil from Iran. Once again demonstrating that the Democratic Party is the biggest sponsor of international terrorism on the planet.

, on Biden's watch.
Does that mean you're willing to blame all the other world leaders that are in office at the moment as well?

He needs to step up production in the US or doesn't he care about the American citizen?
Which oil producer is state run in the US?

They fancy the president as a bold dictator. That's why they like Trump so much. It's his most dramatic role.

So what you are saying a producer can continue with the keystone or they can drill on federal land?

Keystone has nothing to do with US oil companies and it was nowhere near finished.

There are 9000 unused drilling leases on federal lands.

Many stockpiled leases remain undeveloped because there may be no oil and gas to be found there, or companies discover that it’s not economically feasible to drill
