Some face coverings were worse than no mask.

Anyone wearing surgical types of masks are potentially more likely to be exposed to the virus with just a few asymptomatic persons in the vicinity. The masks help prevent spread from wearer of the mask to others. It does less to protect from others who may already be infected and maskless.

Any case studies showing persons with masks still being infected at potentially higher rates could be the result due to how easy the virus can spread, and get into and stay in the mask of the person wearing one. That is Why, Right Wingers should not be obstructing mitigation efforts by proclaiming the pandemic is a hoax.

One type of face covering(fleece) is about the same as no covering in their testing. It is not exactly much of an argument against face masks, or much else. The best bet is to make the information public so people can use the wide variety of masks which significantly reduce water droplet transmission.

The scientific study Breitbart linked to proves that this is not the case. It specifically states that non-valved N95 masks work well. Breitbart simply seized on the finding that some fleece masks can allow smaller droplets to escape leaving them airborne for longer than larger droplets exhaled without masks.

So maybe homemade fleece masks are ineffective at preventing transmission if you already have COVID. Normal surgical masks work quite well, however.

I had to look up neck gaiter, and yeah, it's what I thought it was. Just wear a regular, I'm not trying to be cooler than everyone else, type of mask. Or, we'll wrap your whole head in duct tape. "I can't breathe".
