Students around the world go on strike protesting climate change

I call bull****. You say almost every scientist agrees with AGW, then provide the proof. Hell I'd like to just the climate wonks. You cant prove it because it dont exist. Good luck trying though.

"Multiple studies published in peer-reviewed scientific journals1 show that 97 percent or more of actively publishing climate scientists agree*: Climate-warming trends over the past century are extremely likely due to human activities. In addition, most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide have issued public statements endorsing this position."
Scientific Consensus | Facts – Climate Change: Vital Signs of the Planet

97% is about on par with every other established scientific idea out there. You might get up to 98% with "The Earth goes around the sun".

Did you notice the asterisk in your quote? Here's the quote that refers to:
*Technically, a “consensus” is a general agreement of opinion, but the scientific method steers us away from this to an objective framework. In science, facts or observations are explained by a hypothesis (a statement of a possible explanation for some natural phenomenon), which can then be tested and retested until it is refuted (or disproved).

Those bigwig asshats at NASA are still backing that walking turd Hanson I see. Time to do a deep dive into the details as thats where the Devil lurks. I am already seeing a hole in NASA's theory especially if they are only using data from just the 1880's. That's not even close to geological level data, climate is geological nature in that it is weather patterns of a large period of time. A century or 2 does not a geological timeframe make. A millennium is like second on that size scale. If I remember correctly everybody is using near term data to scare everyone when the geological data suggests we are on the ass end of a warming period and the low end of CO2 concentrations. I also believe every single AGW hypothesis has a computer model all of which are currently very flawed. I have to definitely hunt that stuff down again.

Your question would be valid if we were talking about either of those things but we are not despite your attempt to deflect to those subjects.

LOL YOU are the one that brought up sacrificing as a requirement for protesting, not me. If you didn’t want to talk about it then YOU shouldn’t have brought it up. However thank you for displaying your utter hypocrisy.

,your certainly going the extra mile on trying to divert the thread. I stand by my statement that a bunch of kids hooking school under the guise of protesting climate change does not impress me. I would have more respect for their protest if it actually did anything that had a positive impact on the enviroment.

If youre determined to talk about the futility of some specific right wing protest, start a thread about it. What youre currently doing is impolite and its also something i have seen mods issue thread warnings for.

When youre ready to discuss the thread topic i will engage with you. If not, this will be my final reply to you.

Running away as usual. You pout because your bull**** comment showed your hypocrisy. Run away sir robin run away. :lamo

In a global show of solidarity, students all over the world have gone on strike today to get world leaders to do more about climate change. This is the coming generation, and they feel that the older generations are betraying them and letting them down. They are not going to be in school. Their teachers, as well as the mayors of their cities are supporting them. Greta Thunberg, the young Swedish student who testified in the US congress recently, has become their idol. Whereas before the teen hairstyle rage all over the world was to try to look like Ariana Grande, now all the rage is having hair that looks like Greta's.

Here is live coverage of these protests as they are unfolding all over the world:

Meanwhile, back here in the US, the Republican Party remains the only party in the developed world that denies climate change (not to mention having a large part of its base still thinking the Earth is only 6000 years old and trickle down economics works).

The US is not a world leader anymore.

Using kids for political gain is ludicrous. It was Green Power adults that planned and drove the agenda. Reality was, it wasn't climate change, it was Green agenda. You know, the one that aims to change society and isn't really focused on the climate. Cow farts to the adults who gave the kiddies a day out of school.

So inspiring with the millions of people all across the world that participated yesterday.

Why Republican Leaders Love Renewable Energy

The American Republican Party has not only left the majority of this country outraged and frustrated, but the entire world. It is shocking that just a handful plutocrats, completely blinded by short-sighted selfishness and greed, and the large uneducated masses they so expertly exploit, can so dangerously hold the whole world’s future hostage in this way.

The problem for AGW alarmists is not the Republican Party, but rather the weak scientific foundation of their argument. They remind me of the "nuclear freeze" activists of the 1980's, who were actually an impediment to ending the Cold War. Within our lifetimes climate skeptics will be recognized as courageous heroes.

There is no weakness in the science. You are confusing holding a political position with scientific facts.

Having an opinion on what to do about facts is very different then stubbornly denying the facts altogether.

You are confusing holding a political position with scientific facts shows how confused you are. There is no weakness in the science.

The problem for AGW alarmists is that they are short of facts, and long on speculation.

1. With all due respect, those students should spend their time studying.

a. Learn history well.
b. Learn math well.
c. Learn the sciences well.

2. Students are often naïve about reality and let themselves be used by adult activists.

a. When I was in the 6th grade, our beloved teacher asked us to sign a letter demanding better treatment of Native Americans. Of course, we all signed the letter. And, of course, we didn't understand anything about the topic.

3. Climate change is a controversial topic that should be discussed in a calm and rational manner by adults. Students should not let themselves be the pawns of adults who are pushing an agenda.

a. Personally, I find both sides on this issue to be obnoxious. Each side thinks that it has the truth. So I guess the truth is somewhere in-between.

[h=2]Germany On Economic Suicide Watch… Merkel Government Postpones Climate Death Leap …”Collective Psychosis”[/h]By P Gosselin on 21. September 2019
Good news: Germany’s “climate rescue” plan is light years away from FFF demands, thus postponing economic suicide leap, Bad news: plan means considerable hardship for German consumers and economy.

Haunted by visions of a climate collapse, German government yet decides to postpone its economic death leap, instead proposes highly watered down climate-rescue plan.
FFF’s draconian demands
The Fridays for Future (FFF) movement is sweeping across Germany. Media reports claim more than a million people attended rallies and blocked streets in dozens of cities throughout the country yesterday. The demonstrators’ demands are clear: Away with cars, industry, meat and plastic, etc. In short: Economic suicide.
Merkel announces “climate rescue” plan
And spooked by the gains made by the Greens in recent EU elections, the German mainstream Socialist SPD and Conservative CDU parties have been scrambling to take climate rescue really seriously. “No more playing around,” they declared. Angela Merkel’s CDU-CSU/SPD coalition government announced “an immense act of strength” would be taken to combat climate change.
From that point on Germany has been on economic suicide watch with the country watching in suspense.
No economic death leap
After having met some 19 hours in a “Climate Cabinet” meeting, the suspense ended yesterday as Chancellor Merkel’s government compromised and announced its long-awaited bold plan. The promised “act of immense strength” plan, however, turned out to be every thing but, and is light years away from what the FFF movement and climate cultists had been demanding.
Though the package promises more economic hardship and environmental destruction, the country at least as put off its economic death leap – for the time being.
The German plan forsees higher fuel prices for consumers, 10 million electric cars by 2030, a network of one million charging stations, an air traffic tax, cheaper train tickets, and more solar panels and wind turbines. Read here. . . . .

Water vapor is supposed to be in the atmosphere, and so is carbon dioxide. But not too much, and that is why people are working to limit it.

So, you've changed the dialogue from preventing climate change catastrophe to changing the makeup of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere?

I think we are at ~.04% CO2 in the atmosphere.

Which means actions to 'lower' CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere have been successful but actions to prevent climate change catastrophe have not?

Why is a panel of third graders excited about climate change? Who put those ideas into their heads? Parents??

Heck, yeah. It's books smarts (those who think CO2 monitoring will control climate change) vs. street smarts (those, using reasoning, who know strictly monitoring CO2 will not control climate change).

There is a logical weakness to the method of controlling climate change. Solely monitoring CO2 will not contain climate change.

Changes in the makeup of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere are what is causing climate change. The goal is to prevent or limit that change, by reducing fossil fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
