There is something good to say about the Iraq war, after all. Stretched too thin, the military has now pulled out of the war on drugs.

Article is here.

But I thought raygun declared War on drugs in the eighties? Shouldn't we have won it or made some significant progress on this battle? Strange on how Colombia can launder billions of dollars through America banks and yet we can catch a Jihadist with $674--called a snowjob.

As a mom of teens, I must say the increase in the amount of meth that's around these days is terrifying, though.
When I was young, crystal meth was not easy to obtain, and I only knew a few (adult) regular users.
Now it seems this drug is everywhere, and cheap enough for kids to get ahold of.
I feel like a hypocrite, because I believe- theoretically- that drugs should be legal and regulated by the government; but on a primal, visceral level, I would be happier if that stuff disappeared from the face of this earth.

If cocaine and safer, more reliable amphetamines were legal, methamphetamine would disappear from the face of the Earth. Meth is the drug of choice for people too poor to even afford crack.

Meth is nothing compared to whats coming to a crackhouse near you somewhere in the next 1-3 years. It's called Paco. It's been making the rounds in South America and killing even more people the coke/crack/heroin and meth combined.

A new scourge sweeps through Argentine ghettos: 'paco' | csmonitor.com

A friend of mine e-mailed me this story.

Paco is cheap. It usually goes for about 30 cents a dose, enough for a powerful two-minute high. Jerimias was hooked from the first hit.
