House Republican leaders will try to remove Representative Steve King of Iowa from the powerful Judiciary Committee and his other panel assignments on Monday night as the party officials scrambled to appear tough on racism and contain damage from comments Mr. King made to The New York Times questioning why white supremacy is considered offensive.

Mr. King’s own party leadership moved against him throughout the day, with the Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell, suggesting Mr. King find “another line of work” and Senator Mitt Romney saying he should quit. In an attempt to be proactive, the House Republicans stripped him of the coveted Judiciary and Agriculture Committee seats in the face of multiple Democratic resolutions to censure Mr. King that are being introduced this week.
If he is removed from the 2 committees, he should IMHO
After years of his racist comments the R Party is finally holding him to account.
The Party will have to work years to remove the stink that many people believe is ignored by the Party

House will also vote on Disapproval against King

The republican Party should categorically state they will not support King in the next election

House Democrats moved to punish Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) over a string of comments considered racist, with a floor vote to formally rebuke him expected on Tuesday.

The House is expected to take up a resolution from the No. 3 House Democrat, Majority Whip James Clyburn (S.C.), who is a senior member of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC).

King met with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Monday as Republicans also considered punishments for the lawmaker, who in an interview with The New York Times published last week questioned why the terms white supremacist and white nationalist were offensive.

Not holding my breath that the group of people backing Donald Trump is actually going to make white supremacists face repercussions for their statements.

Not holding my breath that these ever increasing demands for conformity and not offending folk is good for us.

The Vote will pass, the real test would be removal from 2 powerful committees. Judiciary- Agriculture

The House should compile all his statements and actions since day one when he first entered the House, and expel him from the US House of Representatives, however, removing him from all the committees is a good first step.

I guess I can kind of understand what is said a little, but it is so out of touch. I think that perhaps what he was saying is why is it so evil to hear terms like white supremacy and white nationalism, when all of that is perfectly okay for other races?

China and Japan do not allow other races to immigrate to their countries because they believe it would destroy or harm their unique culture. I really don't see the left attacking that, the left has a particular fetish for attacking white countries with incredible zeal, as if they wish to destroy white majority countries in a vindictive way.

I’m ok with removing Nazis from power. Grandpa was really ok with that, too. We used to be better, right?

He is toast

House GOP leaders moved Monday to remove Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) from all of his committee assignments following a firestorm over remarks considered racist.

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) told reporters after a meeting of the GOP Steering Committee that King would not receive any committee assignments for the new Congress.

King faced bipartisan criticism after telling the New York Times in an interview published last week, "White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization — how did that language become offensive?”

Good for Republicans.

Because if there’s any culture we should take direction from, it’s China?

Let me help you out here. American liberals don’t support racial bans for immigration for anybody. We just talk about American policy because we, you know, live in ****ing America.

That's absurdly stupid.

The problem is that leftist groups do not understand history. The nazis were far left, and conservatives despise them for it. Leftists seem to at least try to project socialism like the nazis on the right, which makes no sense whatsoever. The nazis were big government socialists, embracing political correctness and concentration camps to back up said political correctness.

I have to laugh at this and it makes me question some of the people in Congress. Let’s face it this is the same BS that happened to Megyn Kelly on NBC.

We shouldn’t be afraid of the words white supremacy or white nationalism. We should be having all out discussions. Now if his views or comments were in any way supporting it or promoting it then I would have concern.

So he had to piss someone off somewhere

It’s adorable you think the nazis are “far left” and that conservatives are the ones against white supremacy today.

You’re aware we’re discussing a literal white supremacist elected by Republicans, right?

Political correctness in Nazi Germany. Yeah, let’s see your historical dissertations on that one :lamo

That's absurdly stupid.

Is it? When was the last time in the US a group was called the Congressional Black Caucus, or the United Negro College Fund, or La Raza, or any other "racist" group if the color was different?

I suppose you think Goebbels does not represent your views about "political correctness"?

Uttering racist statements is not anti-conformity. It is douchebaggery, and has no place in our government. It's too bad you don't know the difference.

Based on this one incident, which is all I am commenting on, I agree with him that words such as white supremacy and white nationalism should not be so easily used to put down an entire race of people, silencing them in shame. Other races obviously have great privileges which white people do not have

UTOPIA had damn well better be as nifty as it is cracked up to be with all that we are giving up to get admitted.

Problem is, we never had a unique culture, even when colonies: royalists in Virginia, Catholics in Maryland, convicts in Georgia, etc.

And true, we on the left hate Norway.

I think Republicans who allow themselves to unfairly discriminate against and mistreat one of their own for stupid unjust politically incorrect reasons are not good leaders.

Let me add to that: we as Americans never had a culture solely based on racial identity and they never had to since whites were always in the majority.
