All the Best People. So much winning. Why are so many people from Trumps White House wracking up criminal records?

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon has been arrested after being charged with defrauding hundreds of thousands of donors through their campaign “We Build the Wall.”

Bannon, along with three of his associates were indicted by investigators at the U.S. Southern District of New York on Thursday. They allege that the group of conservative leaders defrauded donors and that led to raising “more than $25 million to build a wall along the southern border of the United States,” according to the press release.

Starting in approximately December 2018, BRIAN KOLFAGE, STEPHEN BANNON, ANDREW BADOLATO, and TIMOTHY SHEA, and others, orchestrated a scheme to defraud hundreds of thousands of donors, including donors in the Southern District of New York, in connection with an online crowdfunding campaign ultimately known as “We Build The Wall” that raised more than $25 million to build a wall along the southern border of the United States. In particular, to induce donors to donate to the campaign, KOLFAGE repeatedly and falsely assured the public that he would “not take a penny in salary or compensation” and that “100% of the funds raised . . . will be used in the execution of our mission and purpose” because, as BANNON publicly stated, “we’re a volunteer organization.”

Those representations were false. In truth, KOLFAGE, BANNON, BADOLATO, and SHEA received hundreds of thousands of dollars in donor funds from We Build the Wall, which they each used in a manner inconsistent with the organization’s public representations. In particular, KOLFAGE covertly took for his personal use more than $350,000 in funds that donors had given to We Build the Wall, while BANNON, through a non-profit organization under his control (“Non-Profit-1”), received over $1 million from We Build the Wall, at least some of which BANNON used to cover hundreds of thousands of dollars in BANNON’s personal expenses. To conceal the payments to KOLFAGE from We Build the Wall, KOLFAGE, BANNON, BADOLATO, and SHEA devised a scheme to route those payments from We Build the Wall to KOLFAGE indirectly through Non-Profit-1 and a shell company under SHEA’s control, among other avenues. They did so by using fake invoices and sham “vendor” arrangements, among other ways, to ensure, as KOLFAGE noted in a text message to BADOLATO, that his pay arrangement remained “confidential” and kept on a “need to know” basis.

Now that's both the Trump campaign chairman being indicted, one convicted. You have to wonder who's next. Which one of the 4 arrested will flip first? What does Trump know about all this?

Oh, look, another Trump campaign and administration official being charged for a crime.

Another real bad day for Trump. On top of Bannon, a federal judge just ruled that the Manhattan DA will get Trumps taxes and financial documents. Sorry Donald.

Should we be surprised though?

How could people donate to such a project without second thoughts? It needs government approval. That would be like me starting a fund raising campaign to build a high speed bullet train from NYC to LA. People are not using common sense. Such matters are not privately funded nor privately organized

tribalism

it was perceived as funds promoting the "in group" that appealed to those donating which is a powerful emotional motivator. this tends to shut down critical thought.

Roger Stone and Trump’s kids are helping get Qanon conspiracy theorists elected to public office. When Trump pardons them, they aren’t really contributing much of anything positive or helpful to society

Celebrate the good times, common on. It’s a celebration.

Yeah Donald "nothing but the best people" Trump should have something interesting to say about another one of his minions being indicted.

That bunch did actually build 3 miles of border wall at the same time they were criminally raping the fund raising monies.

Donny Dip Stick even praised their efforts, off the record of course, that way if their wall turned out better than his wall he didn't want to be embarrassed and no doubt if it failed he would not lose face for having praised it openly.

Despite Bannon being gone from the administration for so long his former position in the White House has threads that run through this criminality with WBTW that is linked to the construction company that built the private wall that secured at least a $1.7 Billion contract for border wall construction, pushed by Trump to that company. There is and has been cause for investigating how the contract was awarded, how the company had spread money around Republican politicians, and how inside influence may have inappropriately help the contractor land the contract.

There is nothing about Trump or anything he touches that doesn't come away tainted and reeking of criminal and or immoral actions.

The man is a walking talking, stagnant pond muck oozing, slime bucket.

:doh

I wonder how many Trump supporters on this forum were duped into donating to this scam.

Yes, add Steve Bannon to the extensive list of people around Trump charged or convicted of crimes.... Although Bannon is not yet convicted, the conviction rate on federal charges is 94%, so..... he most likely will be.

The Trump isn't even a good mob boss. A real mob boss would not have so many of his family convicted so quickly.

Why would anyone in their right mind continue to support the Trump presidency?

Even better... it looks like the Kolfage guy bought a boat with the funds called ‘Warfighter’ [emoji849] which will be seized.

He was the one who organized a big ‘boat parade’ for Trump in Destin, FL.

Birds of a feather. Trump did pretty much the same thing, siphoning money from his bogus charity for his campaign and to buy Tim Tebow memorabilia and a portrait of himself. He was fined $2M but not indicted and ordered to disburse the remaining money in the charity and never run a charity again.
If I remember right, much of that money had been donated to help vets.

Banon fraud? Nah, not Mr. I'm here to tear Washington down and create anarchy. Hoax.

That's the least surprising thing I've read in a long time. I guess I'm surprised that the fraud was so obvious, but not that it happened. My own guess was he'd get a list of names and emails of gullible people and would use that list in another venture that he'd use to fund his lifestyle, but I guess that was too much work and they just robbed this effort, since the money was just sitting there, $millions of it.

If you are following along for 2020, you have Wayne LaPierre swindling 2A supporters, Jerry Falwell Jr. snookering evangelicals, and Bannon bilking border hawks. Conservatives should be very angry. You got used.

I am not certain why Trump voters haven't figured this out..... to Trump and those around him, Trump voters are nothing but marks. They serve [at] the pleasure (and financial benefit) of the President.
