This just adds to all the trouble the US seems to be in, getting more and more dramatic now. Its amazing how little you people put aside during the good times, actually you put nothing but debt aside.. Politicians are fools, thats what I have been trying to say all along, media democracy ain't making it better.
 
Perhaps your concern will be addressed by a natural process. That is, a little poverty can be highly instructive.

An older generation learned to save by being exposed to the Great Depression.
