Can't wait!

I just hope that this time its a Star Trek movie, not just a movie with the name, characters and space ship.

I'm wondering how they're going to blow up the Enterprise this time. It seems like they can't make a Star Trek movie without blowing the Enterprise to pieces or at least knocking some really big holes in her.

I have no idea how it will be. It's co-written by 'Scotty' (Simon Pegg) so it should be funny.

But he tends to be a bit zombie-obsessed in his previous works and I have no idea how loyal he is to the Star Trek bible (Roddenberry's list of Star Trek 'do's' and 'don't's).

He made Sulu gay, which I thought was a nice twist (especially considering George Takei - the original Sulu - is gay). I am straight but a gay character in Star Trek is incredibly overdue. Good for Pegg on that.
Though interestingly, Takei does not like it.
Maybe they should have asked Takei first for his opinion and made a new character gay instead.

George Takei Reacts to Gay Sulu News: "I Think It's Really Unfortunate" - Hollywood Reporter

It should be interesting.

Me as well, but I doubt it...J.J. Abrams is producing it.

He has done the same thing to both Star Trek and Star Wars - made them fun, broadly appealing, technically loyal to the original material yet changed significantly and incredibly profitable.

And I now find both series 'empty'. They lack soul. They are more 'fun in space' the true science fiction.

Greats sci-fi should make you think and ponder...these two franchises now do neither (except in a soap opera kind of way).

I like them both...but I no longer love them (though anything was better then those horrific Star Wars 1-3 cash-grab, abominations).
