Stanford Study: 18 Trump rallies have led to 30,000 COVID-19 cases, 700 deaths

A new study from Stanford University found that 18 of President Trump’s campaign rallies have led to over 30,000 confirmed coronavirus cases and likely led to over 700 deaths.

Researchers examined rallies held between June 20 and Sept. 22, 2020, only three of which were held indoors.
The researchers then compared spread of the virus in the counties that held the rallies to counties that were on similar case trajectories before the rallies occurred.

This puts to rest any doubt that Trump cares about his supporters. He ridicules those that wear masks and he packs them in tight.
He strands them to freeze in North Dakota and gives them heat stroke in Florida.
What do you have to lose?

It lays to rest that Stanford is an extremely leftist and biased college.

I am sorry that truth to you appears to have a 'left wing bias', but that happens when you deal in a world of alternative facts where you news sources continually lie to you. When you consume right-wing political porn, you are going to find reality to be too left-wing for your taste. To put it another way, when you live on the far right wing, the fuselage looks far to the left (but it isn't ... its your perspective that is warped).

Stanford University is one of the world's greatest research institutions. They do not do things for political motivation; they do things to create understanding.

Frankly, anyone that believes having crowded political rallies in the middle of an out of control pandemic (that has a 1-3% death rate) to be a good idea, that can be pulled off without tragic consequence, is nothing short of an idiot. The numbers make sense.

They are not rallies. They are peaceful protests. I'm surprised the media isn't fawning all over them like they do with the peaceful rioters destroying our cities.

Wow, a study using shaky methods to determine such a number. Signed by three of the same assholes who wanted to allow the Floyd protest to continue...

Yeah there's apparently nothing wrong here.

Well, the maskless rube rallies keep rolling. Its Trumps final victory lap from 2016.

Your statement would be true, were it not for their own people saying that political protest should be allowed to continue. In the midst of a pandemic.

Hell, they barely cite their own findings for the paper being presented and the amount of guesswork here is staggering.

Over hundred countries in the world have had less cases and deaths from the COVID-19 outbreak compared to the cases and death caused by Trump rallies.

There the White House also at a point had more active cases than New Zealand, Taiwan and Vietnam combined.

Why do people keep referring to his protests as rallies. Progressive mayors and governors have banned rallies, only protests are legal.

I thought this had to be sarcasm, it's just too perfectly Trumpian. Then I noted the join date and history. Bye Felicia.

It's not a question as to what you call them, 'rallies' or 'protests.' It's a question of packing people in tightly, unmasked, and holding them there for several hours. While you attempt to conflate them with street protests, street protests have been socially distanced and most everyone wears a mask.

I didn't realize that Stanford said that political protest should be allowed to continue, in the midst of a pandemic. Perhaps you can provide that citation.

The thing about these studies is that they can only be suggestive. Likely, yes. Probable? But, the way science works is to start with likely and refine the criteria. I'm NEVER surprised when a Trump acolyte complains about science, just disappointed that there remain so many of them. It's not stupid so much as stubborn. Fanatacism does things to the brain, I think, no matter the subject matter. Is there a Salem in Canada? Maybe we can find some witches to Burn.*

*I'm fully aware that Salem hung their "witches", but that just seems too genteel, doncha think?

We can change the world, rearrange the world, it's dying to get better.

? These people are gathering where they know trump is going to speak to protest? The media is covering the 'peaceful protests' where trump speaks. We plainly see the people behind him wearing masks like they are told but swing the camera around so you can see the crowd, not so many masks. We see these peaceful protests and also what they leave in their wake.

You are comparing protests, which are organic and organized by hundreds if not thousands of people on social media, to a campaign rally, organized by a single campaign. What do you think would have happened in the aftermath of George Floyd's murder, had the government attempted to forcibly stop all the protests?

Protesting during a pandemic is not a great idea, but an understandable one. Taking to the streets is something you often have to do to bring light to social injustice..... and, calling out social injustice is something worthy of risking one's life. No one had control over the timing of events that led up to the protests. Moreover, f you look at the protests, most wore masks and practiced social distancing, they were younger and it was summer. They maximized protections in the circumstance.

In stark contrast, the Trump campaign rallies are not necessary. Moreover, Its ridiculous to risk your life over a political movement that lacks a coherent philosophy, but really is nothing more than glorifying the leader. The rallies are not conducted in a manner than encourages maximum safety for the participants, which often include people that are higher risk for the virus. People are encouraged to stand together in the cold and NOT wear masks.

It is once again a failed "whataboutism"..... which we know that a whataboutism is only used in argument when you can not deny the mainpoint: Trump rallies are not a good idea AND the notion that he is not putting people at mortal risk in conducting them is ignorant. The two things described are not comparable either in righteousness NOR the interest of the participants in the health of the guy standing next to them.

You are conflating them not me. Progressive mayors wont allow rallies in their cities. Protests however are fine with them. Trump is not holding rallies, he is organizing protests.
As far as Trump being blamed for people not wearing masks or distancing themselves. That choice is entirely up to the individuals. Trump isn't prohibiting anyone from doing those things if they feel they need to do so.

Where are the Christians? Why are they not screaming to remove this guy?

I'm not sure what your point is but I generally agree with what you posted.

Really... well the riots and protests by the Left which caused $2 Billion in damage must have caused mayhem.

But we heard nothing about this from The Goebbels Media or any Leftist institutions of brainwashing.
