PHILADELPHIA – U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter on Tuesday was defeated in a Democratic primary in his bid for a sixth term after taking the risky step of switching from the GOP.
Voters picked U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak as the party's nominee and rejected the 80-year-old Specter in his first Democratic campaign.
With 65 percent of precincts reporting, Sestak received 339,402 votes, nearly 53 percent. Specter received 304,179 votes, about 47 percent.
Awesome doesn't even begin to describe this.

Good news. Specter was always a Republican. I'm glad to see the Democrats boot him for a real Democrat.
There's no difference between electing a Republican and electing a Republican pretending to be a Democrat.

Excellent. I'm glad to see the Democrats have a spine and boot the Republican out of office.
Sestak is running much stronger in head to head against the Republican.
Finally the Democrats are growing a spine.

Who will lose to Toomey because the American Electorate has seen what Leftwing Liberalism does and they don't like it!Indeed! I'm glad the Democrats of Pennsylvania didn't buy his turn of coat. From what I've read of Sestak, he's a good guy.

yup. unlike some of our public caterwauling class, i approve of the return of ideology. let us see an honest campaign between two proponents of competing beliefs.
From what I heard, right now it is a statistical dead heat.We shall see.
Sestak runs ahead of Specter vs. Toomey.

They did elect a Democrat governor, so it's not, strictly speaking, a red state.

Especially with Liberal suckholes like Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
[stereotypical liberal talking point]Its good to see how moderates in the democratic are treated[/[stereotypical liberal talking point]
Can't honestly say I'm surprised, or I blame the Democrats. When a guy doesn't represent your constituency and isn't viewed as much better than the other side then you try and get rid of him.
Gina I wouldn't bother with Bassman he is a little bit crazy
Who was Obama supporting in this primary? Wasn't he just out campaigning for one of these guys? hmmmmm

Likely the reason why urban centers are rife with decay and corruption. Guess which party has had strangleholds on them for decades on end?One man's suckhole is another's constituency, yes? It's all in the ideological point of view.
