Sore Winners: Conservatives Can't Be Happy Even When They Are Winning

Trump turned down 25 bil, and now begs for less than 6. Oh, and the other difference? The dems have the house. After trumpie ran the GOP on non-stop border invasion fear.

The Dems...and some of the Reps...were never going to give Trump any money.

Because Conservatives are the true snowflakes. They'll never be happy, unless of course every non-white in this country were removed and everybody prayed to jesus, prayed in schools, had 50 AR-15s in their closets, waved the flag incessantly, screamed "MERICA" every chance they got.

You OP says otherwise, and so does many of the contributions here.

You seem to be projecting.

Conservatives can't stand having a political opposition. This is fact not projection.

Just as the Right wants an ethically and culturally monolithic society the Conservatives want a political system and government without opposition. Certainly without significant opposition. Trump and His Fanboys go bananas any time there's opposition. Opponents are to be vilified rather than negotiated with. Condemned in fact. Driven out. The opposition are evil big government types who want to take your rights away. It's zero-sum over there and always.

Uh huh, uh huh...so is it conservatives or liberals that have been rioting against anyone who has different opinions and beliefs as themselves?

They demonize the liberals and call them leftists as if its some sort of insult.

That's because for the last forty years liberals have allowed them to control liberal messaging.
Things get mighty interesting if you replace the word "leftist" with "Jew" or "nigger", or even "the blacks", don't they?

Things get mighty unpleasant if you continue to allow other people to control your own messaging, as we have learned in the past:

Blacksrelax.jpg

I've reached the point where I can only conclude that the time has come to scare the crap out of Trump Republicans, to the point where they completely lose control of all logic and rationality, and become unhinged to the point of violence.
Time to rip the scab off quickly rather than slowly.
Let them fire the first shot, throw the first punch, unleash the first acts of war.
That's where it's headed anyway.
There are some addictions which cannot be reversed, and large parts of civilization understands that, like in the case of repeat child molesters, for example, or in the case of Germans who are rediscovering right wing white supremacy and fascism.
And, like in the case of repeat child molesters or hardcore neo-Nazis, there is no coming back to rational and reasoned behavior now that millions of people are addicted to the drug known as Trump.

Trump is not the problem, he is the symptom.
And once enough Americans are forced to grapple with the actual horrors manifested in Trump's diseased mind directly, in ways that directly impact their very lives, they will know what we have to do.

Uh huh, uh huh...so is it conservatives or liberals that have been rioting against anyone who has different opinions and beliefs as themselves?

You're focused on extremes which only fuels 'em. We recall it was Trump who said of Charlottesville there were good people on the Nazi side. You guys are defending Trump in everything he does. Trump does no wrong over there. Critics such as mainstream mass media are proclaimed the "enemy of the people." This has been Right Wing stuff for decades and now you've got your guy in WH.

Uh huh, uh huh...so is it conservatives or liberals that have been rioting against anyone who has different opinions and beliefs as themselves?

Are you attempting to say that no one on the Right has ever manifested any kind of violence?

Uh huh, uh huh...so is it conservatives or liberals that have been rioting against anyone who has different opinions and beliefs as themselves?

Have another few Charlottesville tiki torch parades.

There was never a deal. Schumer made an offer, but no deal was ever reached. Schumer pulled that offer after his own party scalped him over it for giving in too easily.

You also spelled "With the clock ticking, Trump appeared to agree to a pair of deals with Democrats, then backed out and demanded more money for a border wall" wrong.

And there's this:

January 2017 Wall not an emergency

The Dems...and some of the Reps...were never going to give Trump any money.

Now that he has taken hostages, damn straight he's not getting any money, not ever. He screwed the pooch on that one this time. Think he'll learn from this? Sure hope so, because if the Dems give in, the only thing he will learn is that TAKING HOSTAGES WORKS.

Time to housebreak the dog.

When you spout nonsense like this, it's no wonder you like talking to liberals. This is the same nonsense they spout.

Trump has never had full control of the House, the Senate and the WH. If he had, Obamacare would be gone. Trump has, from day one, had opposition from ALL Democrats and from a lot of Republicans.

Furthermore, he has been talking about the wall...and the need for it...long BEFORE he became President.

If he would have forced his water boy Mitch McConnell to allow some bipartisanship, he would have done just fine.
Republicans have created an atmosphere where they will not allow bipartisanship.

The only thing they call "bipartisanship" is "Democrats coming to the Republican point of view."

"If we [win the House, Senate, and White House], bipartisanship means they have to come our way, and if we’re successful in getting the numbers, we’ll work towards that."

Sounds like your party took Mourdock very seriously.

There is only one kind of political brain more mysterious than that of a liberal, that of so-called "moderate" (aka Rino) Republicans. This sub-species is a somewhat inexplicable form, from an ideological perspective ; they insist on identifying as a Republican but, more often than not, espouse liberal views. They only loath the right, chum with liberal Democrats, seek praise from their culture elites and their MSM press, and are terrified of being seen as unfriendly to illegals, identity grievance groups, and Democrats.

However, the source of their quisling personae does not stem so much from ideology as from social snobbery and bigotry; their comfort zone is to attack their own for being racist, unsophisticated, white and working class. Nothing is more horrifying to them than being in the same party as church-goers, pro-lifers, blue collars, and tea party newcomers and the common white guy. And nothing is more perplexing to them than ideology, someone actually having systemized beliefs.

Thus, the GOP Moderate RINO feels more comfortable doing the dirty work for liberals in eliminating serious rightwing opposition to Democrats and liberals. Indeed, as this seditious species has shown in 2008 they even vote against other RINOs (McCain) in order to jump on the trendy liberal racialist bandwagon of Obama (e.g. Powell, Brooks) ...and yet, they still assert they are Republican.

So no, they don't obsess over folks they tend to agree with (AOC or Hillary Clinton), but they do obsess over bashing the Tea Party, protecting illegals, and currying favor from Democrats.

And as long as a moderate Republican thinks "full control" of the Senate is possible with a mere one or two vote majority, with guys like McCain killing Republican reform efforts of Obamacare, and Democrats filibustering, then such RINOs will always be reviled as delusional snakes and 5th columnists.

Even though I am an agnostic, I leave you with a bible quote I have always found to good instructive to conservatives regarding the nature of moderate Republicans:

"I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot...So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth."

Thank you for that fine example of genuine right-wing paranoid gibberish, including a quote from the acid trip that was Revelation. It should be bronzed for posterity, underneath the heading, "Yes, Some of Us Used to Talk Like That."

A sore winner indeed.

The Trump Fanboys were cheerless on election night 2016, or virtually so. Faces were rather grim and determined. Their attitude was that winning was the first step only. Lying ahead was their decades old agenda of purification and purge. Ideological cleansing. An ethnic and cultural reordering. Change that is Biblical in its nature.

Actual conservative republicans are indeed upset because the party has given its power and name to a man who is neither Republican or Conservative and in doing so has abandoned the actual base to go elsewhere, the old school (Congress) likely remember what we once stood for but no longer have the guts or base to do anything about it. Added to this is the justifiable fear that by 2020 Trump will go down and take what is left of the party with him. If this was a planned Democrat attack on Republicans, it was brilliant.

You may be right. I thought there was a deal offered, but based on that story it looks like the GOP (house) was never going to okay that DACA deal and the dems weren't going to fund Trump's wall.

The shutdown battle — settled mostly on Trump's terms — complicated the already difficult search for an immigration pact: GOP hard-liners appeared emboldened, while Democrats absorbed withering criticism from progressives. Neither development seemed likely to push the combatants toward the compromises needed to produce a bill that can pass both the tea party-driven House and the more pragmatic Senate.

Still, there were fresh signs of a willingness to keep hunting for a solution, with a flurry of meetings on Capitol Hill and an assessment from White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders that "I don't think they're that far apart."

Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said he'd been to three meetings Tuesday about immigration. "I know there's a lot of skepticism around here and not much trust," he said, "but I do believe that there is a bona fide bipartisan concern about getting this done."

Even if the Senate can come up with the votes to pass a plan, Democrats fear there is little chance such a bill would gain the support of House Republicans.

"There were no commitments made in the House" as legislators worked to end the government shutdown, House GOP Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana said Monday, warning against any "amnesty" measure.

I had thought something else was agreed to and then dropped after the shutdown was averted.

If you spend decades voting against things that will help you, will this cause a continuous state of anger? When you talk to conservatives these days, it sure does seem to be that way.

Tell me, what as a conservative am I voting against that will help me, NeverTrumpGOP? Would you please tell me what my interests are? What specifically were you voting against back when you were on Team Republican that you now think serves your interests?

Looks more like a planned attack on the fabric of America to me. Trump is decimating the US government and splitting American society in a way I didn't think possible.

You spelled "without more concrete promises on immigration" wrong.

Yeah...Putin is just loving this.

Are Republican primary challenges really that one sided in favor of the challenger?

So a "progressive" master rabbit-foots it to the defense of his RINO lapdog. A word of advice: just because the poodle thinks he is a Rottweiler the master needn't encourage the delusion.

Look at all those "grim and determined" faces at the prospect of winning at Trump watch parties....oh dear!

Trump Fanboys have been building toward this since Putin returned to the presidency in 2012. They'd been carrying their rejection of the center middle for decades. Reagan wasn't enough and the Bushes were nothing to 'em. Trump is their guy.

The Putin-Trump-Fanboys are hardcore, they are fiercely determined and set, absolute and uncompromising, in it for as long as it takes, incorrigible and proud of it. They want the USA to be more like Putin's Russia than the other way around. They've become what we once fought against abroad and defeated. They mean to smash the Constitution, the institutions of the society and the fabric of it. Clean house and start again to implement their radical rightwing extremist purposes and goals. Those who stand in the way must be liquidated as the language and tone of so many of their posts state to us.
