No, seriously, they are. Have you ever chased a can or shot targets that react? No, not live targets, commie 🤦‍♂️ .Jesus. Shooting is fun. You need some instruction, and the right circumstance, but I'd be willing to bet I could get even AOC to like shooting.

In socialism fun is shunned & I imagine that the notorious AOC wouldn't hesitate to cut her hair shorter, gear up in fatigues, and sport an AK-47 like a Che Guevara guerilla to fight for the Marxist cause.

Guns are fun, sure. I plinked away hundreds of rounds of .22 long years ago and up to not long ago I hunted every season. Guns stop being fun when people say they need one out on the street for self-protection or to resist tyranny.

I would agree that needing a gun on the street for self protection wouldn't fun. It would be serious.

Haha. Well, an AK might scare the fair AOC. I'm thinking a nice, non ear ringing .22 to start. :)

I actually agree. I dread the day I have to start keeping my .38 in the glovebox. That day seems to be getting closer.

Interesting assertion - the "fair" AOC. I'm not one to be hesitant that in a non-political context she certainly does hit the bullseye </pun>, but seeing how politically "militant" she is and has been, I can see her not having much of a problem with setting that aside like Princess Vespa in Spaceballs.

What’s wrong with defending yourself on the street from violent attacks? Is submission the answer?

No.

To all of that.

Yep

Hmm. How about that. A squinting kid, no eye protection, no hearing protection, face awash in gun powder residue, hot brass bouncing off his arm, firing an assault rifle on full auto. Just the kind of kid every adult wants to see going to the same school as their children do.

No doubt we're witnessing the archetype of America's "responsible gun owner".

Speaking as a liberal...yes. And it is fun.

In fact, quite a few liberals indulge in the fun. Ask Rachael Madow: she likes to hunt...

That's not the issue liberals have: we are concerned about crime and safety concerning firearms. Not how much fun it is.

Nothing's wrong with that. The thing is that firearm crimes are mostly done by folks with guns against other folks with guns, with a dose of those who randomly start shooting people.

While there are stories of someone defending themselves with a firearm (good for them), that is not the majority of how gun crimes go down. When you live in rural Midwest, the odds of you needing that protection is low. When you are in a city like Baltimore...as an average citizen who is not a criminal...it actually isn't that much higher. If you have to use your firearm in Baltimore for self-protection its because you are in a place where you are buying or selling and are defending yourself from other drug dealers. NOT because you happen to be walking down the Inner Harbor.

Honestly, I personally don't mind CCW. But there comes a point when you are going to get laughed at by the criminals, the cops and the locals because you feel the need for protection when you go to the aquarium. It really is silly.

Now that’s a wall of text.

Well yeah. I'm at the range three times a week. We have a pistol range, a known distance range, and a small shoot house on the property. It's a blast.

Doesn't mean owners shouldn't be licensed and insured and weapons registered.

Other than licensing would be unconstitutional, insurance doesn't cover deliberate acts of violence (and criminals won't buy the insurance anyway) and that we can't even arrest a felon for failure to register a firearm.

As long as Democrats keep talking about bans of any kind and emulating the gun control measures of the UK, Japan, Australia and New Zealand there won't be widespread support for registration in the gun owning community.

You dont get to determine what is unconstitutional and you dont speak for America

I can certainly debate what is Constitutional, which as you might recall is the purpose of this forum.

Murdock v Pennsylvania and Watchtower v Village of Stratton were both SCOTUS cases where licensing requirements to exercise a protected right were overturned.

You can debate anything you like

I am just pointing out the facts

Licensing currently exists in several jurisdictions and it is presumed constitutional

See? You're actually trying to engage in debate with support.

Now, given Murdock and Watchtower, why do you think those state/local licensing schemes for gun ownership are still in place? Why do you think that they are presumed Constitutional?

Because unconstitutional laws are immediately overturned.

Gun licensing currently exists in this country and it is presumed constitutional until it is directly overturned

You really believe that? The history of jurisprudence in this country makes your statement obviously untrue.

So you support the Constitutionality of limiting abortions to six weeks after conception?
