Some Republicans want to oust a Muslim doctor from his GOP leadership role — because he’s Muslim

By the grace of Holy God Almighty, only a CHRISTIAN finger shall ever probe my prostate for polyps!

So long and deep is not for you?

The Democrats are the party of intolerance. VERY small tent right now. Full of leftists, progressives and aggressive socialists. The Dem party doesn't even exist any longer because they let radicals take it over. Once Pelosi and Schumer die off, it's all globalists, socialists and communists.
Don't worry. Reps will be here to save America from you and your racist past.

Yea, right. :screwy

OMG god, conservatives are morons, just keep throwing out this stupid line. Democrats back then are republicans today. Who's the racist party today? Republicans for damn sure.

Christ almighty, political forums just draw the dishonest idiots, don't they?

You ought to know.

Very curious how many "some Republicans" actually is. Based on the article, its 1 and an unnamed number of "supporters", who may or may not actually exist.

and also worth mentioning

One Republican booed after O’Brien voiced her request during a meeting of local Republican party precinct chairs.
Tarrant County Chair Darl Easton, whose appointment of Shafi was approved by Republicans earlier this year, acknowledged O’Brien’s request.
Shafi declined to comment on the motion, but when he later stood to introduce himself, dozens of Republicans gave him a standing ovation.

Till now anyway. In the past they've given out some crumbs during political campaigns to secure votes, but denied these elements any real power. That was the Southern Strategy. Unfortunately, with Trump, another dumpee from the Democrats, they have now gained the ascendancy.
I disagree, Trump is actually a moderate, extreme elements may think his rhetoric favors their disillusion,
but in reality his rhetoric is most just that. ( I think Trump like to hear himself talk!) perhaps a bit too much.

So he's not really a racist, he just plays one on TV? Interesting take. Not one I agree with, but interesting.

People would like to believe Trump is a racist because they want something about him to hate,
He may not be a good person, but does not appear racist.

I love people trying to pretend that republicans are not racist. Where the hell have you been the last couple decades? Obvious republicans racists, that actually have won elections. Trump as president for crying out loud. But please, tell us most republicans are not LOL Then they are perfectly acceptable with republicans pandering to racists, which is just as bad as being racist oneself
r
For my part love people trying to pretend that Islam is not bigoted, anti-gay, and supremely misogynistic. Equally adorable are those who pretend that Muslims are a race and that the Muslim Brotherhood has nothing - nothing I tell you! - to do with continual violence against Christians in the Near East

A lot of racists disagree.

Christians have a history of bigotry, homophobia, and misogyny as well. We've worked hard to overcome all this, but it's still there, and it pops up from time to time. Not all Muslims are anti-gay and so forth. To put them all in the same category is bigoted in itself.

Ever since the voting right act was passed in the '60 the Republican Party has been a dump bin for the bigoted elements of the Democratic Party.
Wrong. Along the lines of Historically illiterate factually wrong.

Besides, we Republicans ameliorated and integrated the entire South in pretty short order, non violently. Tell you what, tho...do you know what the Southern Manifesto is, by pure chance? Wikipedia had a decent article on the Southern Democrat document formally entitled the Declaration of Constitutional Principles signed by 99 Democrats and 2 Virginia Republicans.

Now, the SM was the segregationist's response/retaliation to the Eisenhower appointed Republican Chief Justice Warren's shepherding through the Brown v Board of Ed ruling...a unamiouns 9-0 decision, despite one judge being a former KKK member.

Justice Hugo Black appointed by FDR [D].

Now if you open the links to each of the signatories you can read their careers. I have done that. Only a single, one [1] Democrat from that very fervent large and entire group of Senators and Congressmen, ever became a Republican. Now sure, he was prominent, his name easily remembered, Strom Thurmond.

The rest remained lifelong democrats mostly getting elected and reelected and reelected by Democrats. Tap through and see for yourself.

Most remained elected all the way up until they retired or died. Senators are statewide elections, so a majority statewide was necessary for these folks to win clearly illustrating that those racists were staying WITH the Democrat party and getting reelected time after time.

Fortunately...

We Republicans slowly took over the south, tamed the entire region. Nobody can reasonably deny that there is far less racism today, and what remains isn't in any manner even similar to the racist atrocity committing environment under the Democrats. While I don't trust them enough to do anything more than exaggerate numbers in directions they don't like...well, the SPLC in 2013 put KKK numbers at 5000, total, nationwide. Wow.

Yep, we Republicans done good, real good. Thank us

Do you seriously think that the county party would go to the trouble and expense of holding a vote for the benefit of just 2 people? How did these 2 get into positions of power if they had no support from the rank and file?

Because they called for the vote as part of normal business of their county party meeting. That's how things happen.

Keep believing what you want.

I never said that all Republicans believed this crap. Just that more than 2 do. Enough to have a place at the table.

The Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act were passed by a Democratic Congress and signed by a Democratic president. At that time, the Democratic Party was essentially split, the liberal northern wing vs the conservative segregationist southern "Dixiecrats". It's true that these two bills passed with a combination of Liberal Democrats and Republicans who together outflanked the Dixiecrats. To deny the Democratic leadership in the integration of the south and the enfranchisement of its' African American population is dishonest.
