My friends, and espeially my comrades, I am a Socialist Democrat. I beleive that a socialist systerm that provides the very basics of life (food, clothing and housing) should be FREE. Comrades, these are not luxuries, but necessities and it is only right in a nation as mighty and wealthy as ours, comrades, that everyperson should have a room to sleep in, food in their belly and clothes on their back.
In a Socialist Democratic society, Oil and energy, and all utilities would be owned by the State. Only luxury goods could be sold for profit, comrades.
Now the petty bougeoise will argue that if they don't use the lash of starvation and homelessness, that their wage slaves will not work in their oppressive, menial jobs. Not so, comrades! They shall work hard, and will use their money to enrichen the bougeoise by buying the luxury goods and live a better life. The truth is the boigeoise and the ruling class like to lord it over the proletariate and are evil and sadistic and heartless.
The preist support that by making the people submit with their false claims of eternal life in a mythical heaven after death. As Comrade Marx said religion is the opiate of the people, used to dull their minds and blind them to their wage slavery and bondage.

I've heard that before.

"When a government takes over a people’s economic life it becomes absolute, and when it has become absolute it destroys the arts, the minds, the liberties and the meaning of the people it governs."

Maxwell Anderson

"Communism and fascism or nazism, although poles apart in their intellectual content, are similar in this, that both have emotional appeal to the type of personality that takes pleasure in being submerged in a mass movement and submitting to superior authority."

James Brown

"A society of sheep must in time beget a government of wolves."

Bertrand de Jouvenel

"I know no class of my fellowmen, however just, enlightened, and humane, which can be wisely and safely trusted absolutely with the liberties of any other class."

Frederick Douglas

"They have gun control in Cuba. They have universal health care in Cuba. So why do they want to come here?"

Paul Harvey

"How do you tell a Communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin."

Ronald Reagan

AND HERE'S MY FAVORITE:
Gentlemen, comrades, do not be concerned about all you hear about Glasnost and Perestroika and democracy in the coming years. They are primarily for outward consumption. There will be no significant internal changes in the Soviet Union, other than for cosmetic purposes. Our purpose is to disarm the Americans and let them fall asleep

Mikhail Gorbachev:mrgreen:

The Revolution is coming soon and then we shall be frtee of Bush and the secret masters of the U.S.A. Oh yes, the real truth is your all puppets for the ruling aristocracy, who have bought the Demopulicans and Republocrats. The only alternative is for the massess to gather and demand that the minimum wage be raised, that jobs stop being stolen and sent to exploited foreing workers in impoverished lands and such.
Their can be no true freedom as long as the political whores for the rich and powerful control BOTH parties. I am sorry to say eventually the massess will rise up and smite their oppressor. Socialist Democracy makes sense.

All this smiting and smashing and the exploited proletariat and just, ugh, stop. It's 2005. This isn't Marx's time. Be relevant. Be realistic. Fun slogans for Marxism won't win you any support.

Anymore usless jabber to insult me with? Proletarian crushing capitalist pig dog? Eh, what do I know. I only lived in the USSR and was raised on Marx. I'm dumb. I bow before you and your misspelled Che Guverra (it's Guevara by the way.)

I never said I hated you. Or your ideas. Wait. I do. You and the whole lot of Marxist-slogan spewing teenagers have destroyed an idea. Socialism is frowned upon because of people who think like you. Communism, Socialism, MARXISM is not a product to sell. Your silly little slogans and thrown about "comrade"s do nothing. Until you present a logical and well thought out idea or suggestion I will still look down on your ideas. And you can look down on my IMPERIALIST ideas and my being raised in a BOURGEOISIE household. Because you know my life story of how my parents moved from the recently crushed USSR into poverty in the United States.

Let me tell you something. Marxism is fine and great. He was a smart man. But not everyone thinks that. And politics is about getting people to think in a similar way. VIOLENT REVOLUTIONS don't do this. Logically looking at things do. And throwing about slogans isn't logically looking at things.

Very True, Yet Slogans can convince Some Common People. But One Must be fair to all ideas, I Personally Admire some of Marx's Ideas, yet I look down upon Stalin's Distorted Methods of Using them. People each have a right to their own ideas, Even when their Ideas are just Contradictory blabbering or very general and loose statements. One must help by Teaching Them calmly, not by punishing them and such.

Yet I Realistically Doubt a Revolution will happen in The USA from Internally, It is simply a too -well organized system. The Patriot Act and the "National Emergency State" Have given pratically dictorial powers to the goverment, most without the People's Consent. And Even when they vote, As We all clearly know, Many Americans...Aren't Really that Informed or Intelligent about international Politics and History...The Public Education System has made them into Nationalists basically, either that or ignorant to The World. Some People who are Well-Informed and Intelligent, such as Those PhDs (Some of them, others get unlucky and get corrupted more) or Other Thinkers. The Goverment has tabs pretty much on nearly everything they want, so a Revolutionary Movement would be crushed a small time after it started, and plus currently there is no/very little outside support for the Revolution, mabye in Nepal Though but thats too small (There is a Maoist Insurgency currently in Nepal), and China has shifted to a Mild-Capitalist State so they would not wage war with the US For such a thing.

By revolution do you mean violent revolution or something different? I read the comunist party of great brittans draft plan a while back which claimed that electoral politics wouldnt be the right medium to achive there goals. Seams like a pretty moronic stance to take really, isnt democracy good enough for them? why have a violent revolution when you can change things though electoral politics?

The reason most true communists do not want 'democratic' elections is simply because a system cannot be abolished, but only changed, through such elections. Do you honestly think that if a communist were elected President of these United States he/she would be able to do away with capitalism? Of course not! I disagree with my revisionist counterpart, VI Lenin, however, when he essentially says violent revolution is bad. Is it really? What's so bad about the people rising up collectively and forcing their masters away?

RedDave, be aware that there can be no such thing as a 'communist party'. If one knew the first thing about communism, one would realize this.

BTW, let's all be clear that Reagan was obviously not very educated on Marx or Lenin, so take his little quote as propaganda only.

Hah. Revisionist counterpart? Violent revolution is good?

Perhaps my name should be Leon Trotsky and not VI Lenin.

A society built on blood is not very solid.

Yes, by the very definition of 'revisionist', you are a revisionist. A revolution that is of the people's will is a strong foundation indeed, and do not doubt the potential of violence as the people's means. Now, will the US see any revolution, as our young revolutionaries so boldly predict? No, those are wishful, but false, thoughts. The continent (and a half) that certainly has the potential to erupt in revolution in the coming years is Latin America. Will you honestly oppose any violent revolution that arises there, my friend?

Mmm, the tension. You can cut it with a knife.

A revolution backed by the people, violent or otherwise, I would surely support. It's what the people get that I have a problem with. Violent revolutions are backed by manipulative human beings, and like with all humans power corrupts. The peoples ideas are soon lost in a sea of power.

Now if a violent revolution created a republic or a democracy, that I'd love. But that rarely happens. Mr. Hugo Chavez was elected in a fair democratic election and will most likely be elected again. He has succeded in reforming, "revising" the country if you will, in a slow but successfully process.

Violent revolutions often lead to violent governments that seek to cure all problems with violence. And I've seen enough violent, "revolutionary-Marxist" governments in my time that do nothing but spit on the face of Marx and Lenin. North Korea, Cuba, Vietnam, and even the USSR after Lenin's death have all taken Marxist ideas and bent them to suit their own violent and despotic needs. Yes, they aren't communist. But you can't jump straight to communism, and they made no effort to work towards it.

Also, I highy recommened researching Karl Kautsky and Eduard Bernstein.

And finally, did you know one of the greatest socialist minds the world has ever seen, Josip Tito, was marked as a revisionist? Hmmm, Tito, Trotsky, Kaustsky, even Kruschev...I like my revisionist comrades very much

Communism, as taught by Marx, does not involve a state that owns your life. Rather, he envisioned a socialist system in which the state, overtime, ceases to exist and the means of production are collectively owned by the workers. A true communist society has yet to exist and I find it hard to believe that one ever will. I don't think human nature will permit a society requiring complete honesty and cooperation amongst its members. There will always be people who lust for power and wealth.

This is all rather idiotic. This talk of a coming revolution. There will not be a Marxist revolution anytime soon in the U.S. And one can not build a revolution out of some words full of lies(at least not a lasting revolution).

I checked out a book from a library by Trotsky, entitled My Life. It was a very interesting book but on one pg someone had scribbled a whole bunch of junk about "the coming revolution". It was so stupid I could hardly stand it. It is amazing how many teenagers are out there that say they are a "communist" just because they think it is "cool". It is so dsiguesting.

And also, if anyone has not read My Life, I highly suggest it. Very interesting autobiography by Leon Trotsky.

Ah yes, My Life. What a wonderful book. If you're looking for a chuckle, read The Red Monarch. It's fictional nonfiction, a bit complicated. Very good book, really shows Stalin as a human ...a paranoid power hungry one..but a human none the less.

Sounds very interesting. I do not know if it will be in my library though. I live in a very right winged part of the country. I will look though. My life is probably one of my favorite books that trotsky has written.

I went to my library to try and find the Red Monarch. It isn't there. I am not surprised.

However, I recently rented a great movie, very interesting called I am Cuba. It is basically a Castro propaganda movie but it is still very interesting. Camerwork is amazing as well for the time period it was made. I find it very interesting watching propoganda films from Stalin, Castro, etc.

Yeah, propaganda films are great...almost as good as those American 1950's health videos. "This is Timmy. Timmy discovered his penis. Timmy wants to know what it does. Timmy explored...Timmy died of Satanitis. Silly Timmy."

But really, the best films are the ones that show both sides of Cuba and Russia. Too many focus on the bad or are simply propaganda. PBS did a great documentary on Castro, very unbiased.

I think socialist democracy seems like an oxymoron.

Considering it limits your freedoms in many ways...
