Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) called on President Biden to release to the public information he previously requested from Education Secretary Miguel Cardona regarding his legal authority to cancel student loan debt.
The call came in a letter led by Omar addressed to Biden and Cardona on Friday.
Omar and other lawmakers asked that the information be released to the public by Oct. 22, saying “the time has come” since White House chief of staff Ron Klain said months earlier that the administration was looking to produce a memo on Biden’s legal authority on the issue in a matter of weeks.
That's just dumb. Now, I'll take a refund for the tuition I paid out of my pocket from decades ago. That's not gonna happen, and I oppose cancelling student debt wholesale. Targeted cases may be valid, but I think this issue can be put on the back burner for awhile. Biden won't flinch. Omar can scream all she wants.Ilhan Omar to Biden: 'Deliver on your promise to cancel student debt'
Don't forget to cancel every other contract I signed and agreed to pay for; credit card, cell phone, rent, car payment, mortgage, Time-Life DVD set, All that shopping channel crap....
And while we're on the subject, why should I have to pay for anything? Shouldn't the gov't provide me with weed, Nike's, and droopy pants?
Socialism update: it was a rainy evening in northern Ohio
Socialism update: there are two farthings to a ha’penny"...when suddenly I realized that my degree in hair-braiding was worthless."

Canceling student debt would be very good for the economy, pumping billions into the real estate market. Would that be socialism?
Possibly. But what it would certain be is an impeachable offense, since Presidents do not have the authority to abolish debts of any kind. Congress could abolish debts, but not Presidents.Canceling student debt would be very good for the economy, pumping billions into the real estate market. Would that be socialism?
That is because you aren't a "what about me!!!!!" person.I paid off my student loans and wouldn’t feel jealous if others have an easier time. I’m not petty like that.
I never got a loan to obtain my degree. People need to be held accountable for their decisions. Why couldn't someone just walk into a car dealership, obtain a vehicle via a loan, and then never repay it? That is the kind of reprehensible and irresponsible behavior (a.k.a. outright theft) you are advocating.I paid off my student loans and wouldn’t feel jealous if others have an easier time. Actually my opinion is that college costs should be brought under control before discussing this and student loans should be bankruptable but with a 10 year (vs 7 year) history.I never got a loan to obtain my degree. I would be happy with a discussion about lowering the interest rates, but really with the IBR plans they offer, my payments really aren't that bad every month.Actually my opinion is that college costs should be brought under control before discussing this and student loans should be bankruptable but with a 10 year (vs 7 year) history.
I am just not petty enough to be worried if someone else is more fortunate then me in some way.
Having an easier time is fine... as long as it isn't at the expense of something else.I paid off my student loans and wouldn’t feel jealous if others have an easier time. I’m not petty like that.
That’s where the pettiness comes inHaving an easier time is fine... as long as it isn't at the expense of something else.
Yeah right now if we just cancel debts, it doesn’t fix the root issue. It’s only a temporary fix.I would be happy with a discussion about lowering the interest rates, but really with the IBR plans they offer, my payments really aren't that bad every month.
Just itchin’ to see Biden impeached, aren’t you?Possibly. But what it would certain be is an impeachable offense, since Presidents do not have the authority to abolish debts of any kind. Congress could abolish debts, but not Presidents.

I don't care how fortunate or unfortunate they are, or how much college tuition may be. Reneging on student loans is theft, no different than if they stole someone's vehicle. Hold them accountable for the decisions they made. Which is obviously something a leftist could never possibly comprehend: Personal responsibility.Actually my opinion is that college costs should be brought under control before discussing this and student loans should be bankruptable but with a 10 year (vs 7 year) history.

We have bankruptcy laws because the alternative is worse for society. That was figured out centuries ago.I don't care how fortunate or unfortunate they are, or how much college tuition may be.
